Clean the disc carefully. The cd-rom is having trouble reading the disc.

You mentioned rattling when you put it in the drive. Was there still a disc in the drive you put it on? I've done it and got the rattle.

A soft cloth works good. From experience of having help from children, check for fingerprints, dirt, scratches - maybe a deep one or two, food, etc.

I see you are sured its about the surface of the disk? Its that error common only to this kind of issues? SO rry I ahve to ask cuase its time consuming to try again and again (that error comes into the last quarter of the instal process)

    It is common to discs.
The common way to discount the drive is to try another cd\dvd in the drive. If it works in the drive, we assume the drive is good. If not, then possibly time to replace the drive. Does your RTW disc work in it?

yeah Ive cleaned the disck with monitor cleanign solution and it worked. The 2nd disk took several tryings to be discovered in my drive. Ive choosed to install onyl the crusades campaign since I need onyl the kingdoms exe to install EB II mod. However Ive noticed that my kingdoms is 1.04 and not the latest 1.05. Thas a bit strange. IIRC I always had the latest patch with kingdoms ( I have Gold edition with Kigdoms expansion). I layed online as well so i dont think I could have been able to do so if I didnt have the latest patch right?

Anyway I went to search the 1.05 patch and I found this thread http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...Download-Links
Ive downloaded the kingdoms EU pacth (I dont know where to look for what 1.05 patch I need). Ive unziped the downloaded file, and run the setup inside the folder. It didnt asked me about any instal location just to choose the language. I chose English and it said that my kingdoms was patched but whn I m launching the kigdoms it give me that Wrong disc inserted error. For Med II main campaign it doesnt say this.

Reading I found out that that erro might be caused by incorect patch http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-Disc-Inserted see post #4 of Izob

Securom is not a new 'bug'. Just a common mistake people keep bumping into.
Were you trying to play 'Kingdoms' or the main 'M2TW campagin'?
If your trying to play Kingdoms, then have you installed any patches on it?
Its completely neccessary that you install the correct patch for the kingdoms campagin's, other wise you will get the patch conflicting with your kingdoms campagins and you will get the SecuRom error message.

Usually the SecuRom error is caused by installing the incorrect patch (v1.05) for your kingdoms campagins. Usually this is caused by a patch from a different country that isnt matching with your own game CD that was made in a different country (incorrect patch for the game). The effect of this is that all of your kingdoms campagins shouldnt work.

Still contact secuRom first just to be sure. They will tell you if theres a incorrect patch with your game.

But just in advanced if this is the problem, you will need to:

    - Fully reinstall M2TW and all Kingdoms campagins into your computer as normal. A computer clean of Medieval II: Totalwar and kingdoms completely. (Hint: Uninstall all patches and mods from your computer but make sure you leave the setups (installer, and its files) so you dont need to redownload them and you can reinstall them later).
    - Install the required patchs for M2TW only. (But only if neccessary, the M2TW Gold version is alreay installed to patch v1.03 so theres no need to install any patches for the main campagin. Normal versions of M2TW will still need to DL the patches 1.02 & 1.03).
    - Then to re-patch Kingdoms, go to:

    C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War
    Right click> Kingdoms.exe
    Select properties
    Click the 'Detalis' tab
    Then check the games 'Language'.

The Kingdoms 'Language' needs to be the same as the patches (v1.05) language. (So get the patch from the same place).
For example: my kingdoms is set under the English (United Kingdom) language so I needed to download and install the v1.05 English UK patch for kingdoms to run.

Note there is only 1 (official) patch for kingdoms (v1.05).
Hope that helps and saves time.
Official patches can be found here: http://www.totalwar.com/index.html?lang=en
(Click the required support tab on the left).
how do I know what patch should I download and install?

It would have to be the Gold patch. http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...ansion-Patches is the most up to date list.

I'd say download one of these.
    Code:
Patch 1.5 UK GOLD version mirrors:
    FilePlanet: http://www.fileplanet.com/185629/180...-UK-Patch-v1.5
    Strategy Informer: http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/m...tch/23149.html
    Gamershell: http://www.gamershell.com/download_24606.shtml
    WorthPlaying: http://www.worthdownloading.com/down...=2528&id=14612
    Gamershell being my choice.

The best way to beat "Insert disc" when it's already in the drive is disable the UAC. Depending on Windows version you may also have to take ownership/control of C: drive and install the game in a folder like C:\Games.

It may cure Securom warnings, too.

Ive installed it in ym documents. I have windows 8.

Followed that link to download UK patch but it seems its the same as US one on Gamershell at least. Just try it. Instaled that and I still got the same error.

Ive downalod from another link since the Gamershell UK pacth was the same as US one. It worked and I dont get the disc error. But I cant launch kingdoms from kigdoms exe except from that buggy Med launcher or from that launcher inside the disk itself.

    Thank you!

It's either the launcher, Kingdoms campaign, or a Kingdoms mod for the disc kingdoms.exe to work. One of CA's design decisions still plaguing us.
