Default "Too considerate" / Bad Disciplinarian trait line

How exactly does this thing work out? I think pretty much every general I went to war with has this trait, and I have no clue why, because I play this game as I played every TW game and mod and none of them felt the need to give this to me because I was too easy on my troops or something. Do I need to be more reckless and throw my troops into fights against all odds? Do I need to disband units who fled from the battlefield? Do I need to pull them out less often? Because I like doing that especially with cavalry and skirmishers. I have no clue what to do with this.

I got this on several generals as well, playing the Areuaki. Looking at the export_descr_character_traits, it looks like a general can get this if 9% or more of their army routs off the field during a winning battle, which will cause it to slowly tick up. Fighting against unfavorable odds without any of your units routing off the field, as well as forced marching, both have a chance of counteracting it, but once it goes slightly past the threshold where it initially shows up, you can no longer get rid of it entirely.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it's slightly puzzling to me as I don't recall actually seeing any of the routing that's supposed to be the prerequisite for the trait to appear.

I can't seem to find the edit button, but, a Google search did find that one of the very few mentions of the PercentageRoutedOffField condition used for the trait on the web, in a thread from 2007, suggests it might not be returning the correct value.

(This message failed to appear the first time I tried to post it, so here's a second go.)

Yeah I remember two instances with units routing, and I don't remember it being 9% or more. Maybe it also includes troops that start to rout but get their together before properly leaving the map? Seeing as "too considerate" is already the second trait level, I can't really think ofa different explanation.

I've gotten this trait on generals that have never had any of the units under their control rout.

I've seen this trait on generals who've been nothing but successful as well. Is a bit frustrating.

Well I guess in that case it's bugged in a way.

Kill, burn, pillage and rape, maybe if you do that it will go away?

It's about discipline so I geuss it has to do with your army rather than kiling innocent citzens for no reason. And I'd much rather cheat it away.

I get the same problem. It happens with every sinlge general I engage in battles with. Its a major issue as eventually my generals wind up with 0 stars even though they are grizzled and have won every single battle they have fought. Is it a bug or is it limited to certain "unruly" factions (only tried as Sweboz so far)

It's happening with Makedonia too so I think not.

Okay I linked to this thread in the Bugs and Error Reports subforum. Please continue talking about it there.

Would there be a way to remove this trait from a general using the console?

EDIT: Looks like it's this-- remove_trait<charactername> <opt:trait name>: removes a specified trait from the character (default = all)

2nd EDIT: seems like my character's name isn't registering. Is there a hidden character or something different about EB character names?

I am not sure, but it may be linked to the personality traits the FMs have, such as unselfish. If your general is compassionate (in the trait description) he might have a higher chance of getting that trait/chain. I also have bad disciplinarian with my FLeader and he is unselfish/pessimistic.

This trait has appeared on every general I have taken to battle. It seems ridiculous and pointless. Another issue is that the imperium seems to not be granted often enough, therefore attacking with many generals is an issue. Sorry to be negative, other than this, the faction mechanics seem great so far.
Be of one mind and one faith, that you may conquer your enemies and lead long and happy lives.

The greatest joy for a man is to defeat his enemies, to drive them before him, to take from them all they possess, to see those they love in tears, to ride their horses, and to hold their wives and daughters in his arms.
