    Default Does Rally not work?

Just a thought I had while watching my useless Goblin Infantry route the moment they get flanked:

Does the Rally ability of generals actually work in TATW? If so, what is the range of effect and is it too late to use it when your units are already routing?

The normal m2tw rally has a range in which it works and it only works on troops that are already routing.

It works, in range and if your general is good. Which is not often.

So basically I need a general with 8 or more command stars for it to have any effect?

    I believe that helps.

I have found that rally is much better for helping the morale of your units still in the fight than causing broken units to return.

I'm starting to lean towards that conclusion as well seeing as my fleeing units run right past my general while he blasts away his horn

I agree. I don't remember a time where my already routing units return to fight when rallied even while they were in range of my general and away from the fight. They sometimes return after running away for a while but not immediately after being rallied. But I often use the ability near wavering units and they hold their grounds and don't break so easily. For a while longer anyway.

This. Rally is best used to prevent your units from routing in the first place, not rallying them after they've routed.

hm, Are the units that are being routed close to or being chased by an enemy unit? No matter your general's stats or even using the rally call ability, if a unit is close to or chasing a routing unit, they won't return to battle until clear.

I typicly just assume that it doesn't work as advertised and only use it for dramatic effect.
