Default How to get the most out of my system with £200(ish)?

Hello. I just came into possession, more by accident than design, of a new computer.

    The specs are as follows:

    Asus K8N motherboard (Socket 754)
    Athlon 64 3000+
    1024mb Pc3200 ram (2 512 sticks)
GeForce 78000GS (Agp version of the 7800)

What do you think I could do with £200 ($375 for you yanks ) to ensure I am getting the most from this system? I suspect there may by something of a bottleneck caused by the processor, might it be worth my while to upgrade the processor and mobo? Perhaps I should I buy a faster socket 754 processor, though these seem to be pretty expensive for not a lot of performance. Speaking of motherboards, could I get one with both PCI express and AGP slots with a view to a graphics card upgrade in the future?

To summarise, I am not looking to create a gaming monster, I just want to make sure all the components are of similar quality so I am not missing out on the potential of the better components. Ideas anybody? Cheers for your time

Buy a new processor if there are any (doubt it, not for good prices at least), or just save up for a new system=mobo, cpu, gpu...

Maybe Asrock dual-sata2 motherboard and new cpu would be a wise thing to do. You can fit that 7800GS with it.
I think it's the best thing for that budget. And that leaves you still lots of money, so you could buy some RAM. Or just save for a new system. That would be the next thing to do after this, since you have AGP-card and DDR-ram..

Thanks for the quick replies. Is this what you were referring to Spartacus?

Incidentaly, does this sound like a suitable partner for that board?

You'll need an S939 board if you want to use your old RAM. AM2 boards need DDR2, while S754/939 can use DDR.

Processor is nice, but yeah, you need s939-version of that motherboard, didn't find it on that site..
