    Default Gunpowder units

Anyone fairly certain of how these work in regards to friendly fire? I've always put them in front so they wont inflict friendly casualties, but now ive read some claims that they can be positioned behind units as well. Is this a matter of elevation? Or do they shoot "in between the gaps" figuratively speaking. Please, anyone that knows for certain, i'd appreciate your help since this will determine if im going to go for spain or another faction as my starting one. I dont want to be mid campaign to realize a musket heavy army is weak.

I haven't seen my musketmen (or archers) shooting at my own men in the back in demos.. Even if I position missile troops "inside" my other units. That would be pretty stupid, I quess they look down the sight before they fire own guy to the head.

At least the advisor in the demo said that musketman and arquebusiers would have to be placed in front of the army in order to have an open field of fire. With Archers it's different....but that's obvious.
