    Icon3 Auto-close Steam Launcher fix

Being annoyed with the steam launcher blaring medieval music in the background for several minutes after launching the game I decided to write a quick batch file to fix this issue.

This is a small batch file which starts the steam launcher. Once it detects that medieval2.exe has been started it auto-closes the launcher meaning no more continuous music and no more alt-tabbing to close the launcher manually.

Simply extract the contents of the zip file into the directory where the launcher.exe is located.

For most this will probably be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War

Start the LauncherFix file and launch EBII (or any other mod) and the launcher will automatically close.

Another solution is to download the alternative m2tw launcher. http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2500705

If you update your MTW2 steam install it should be fixed.

Does that even work anymore, I stopped using it because the update killed it. Stainless Steel can be launched by simply click on the launcher or shortcut icon to that launcher. Why does this mod need to go through hoops?

It doesn't. Our friend wasn't aware of the new steam updates.

That is strange. I have Steam and I have the latest update and I used the launcher and it still works for me.

I would like to point out that steam users just need to launch the "disc installed" icon, as it works just fine. The one labeled "steam users using launcher" is not needed. While it still works, it's just unnecessary.

I run a Steam version, but after reading this thread I used the disc installation shortcut and it worked. Then after some time, I installed the launch-fix rar so as to fix the year display bug. After that, I can't use the disc shortcut but have to use the steam shortcut. And now I do get that annoying medeival music playing over the EBII intro music and for another minute or two into the main menu.

I'm confused by the posts and what people in this thread are saying about the issue. Which shortcut should/could I use, and most importantly - how do i get rid of the medeival launcher music??
