    Default Struggling to install

I downloaded the torrent version but I am struggling to get it to install on my retail copy. I can get as far as starting the installation process but then the installer says it needs a disk or a file that contains the disk files. I am at a loss.

Does vanilla M2TW run normally? And it's patched to v1.05?

Make sure you are pointing the installer to the right folder...for you it should be Program files/Sega/Medieval II Total War. For me at least, the installer pointed to steam for some reason, even though I have the retail version.

He seems to be not talking about running the game, but about running the installer.

You need to extract the files from the zip file. You cannot enter the zip file and run EBII.exe directly.

Where should I extract the files to? The default option?

Yep, the installer automatically identifies MTW install and defaults to correct path. I have my MTW installed not in the usual Program Files(x86) place, and the installer found it.

You can extract them to anywhere you like. For instance C:\Temp, if you need a suggestion.

Look for "When I run the non-Steam shortcut on my non-Steam M2TW, it fails to run and I get an error saying M2TW has encountered an error and needs to close." here.
