    I'm getting the Text error as well... Tried all fixes to no Avail.

    Post the whole log as the previous. Looks the same issue as I posted above(using a wrong medieval version).

    I figured it out... I am installing from the Disc now as I found out that the Gamergate version does not install kingdoms like it says it does.

    i had the shared.txt GER_generic whatever and i did all the steps from post #1 and then copied the text-fix from post #23 AGAIN and now it seems to be working!

    sory for double post couldn't find how to edit my post. I wanted to mention that I didn't know which method of launching the game I should use since sory but it is downloaded(haven't got the means to buy it now) so first I run the non-steam shortcut and it opened medievaltw with just the EB music and I couldn't enter the grand campaign.

    Then I tried the launcher (chose EBII) and the shared.txt error occurred.

    After I did all the #1 post steps and copying the text file again one more time the game would work but with the non-steam shortcut only and if I tried the steam one that sends me to the launcher where I have to choose PLAY -> EBII the shared.txt GERR_GENERIC error occurs again.. hope this cleared things a bit..

    Congrats on getting the mod out there folks! Super psyched. Having a problem with the installing though, and I don't think the solution has been posted in the thread. Right after clicking "install" in the wizard, a prompt pops up telling me to insert the disk. Whether it means for medieval 2 or EB2 I'm not sure. It puts up a temp file as the path use, but the says the path is incorrect and that EB2 cannot be found. I'm also using Steam.

    You need to google and install the 1.5 patch. Then install EB2 itself.

    I Keep getting CTDs when custom battle is loading and i try to fight a battle on the campaign map and the same thing happened, it is the medieval has encountered a problem and will exit now CTD.

    Are you using steam or CD version? Are you using the appropriate and compatible shortcut of the two?

    Text Issue:

    On first run of the game, did not have the text issue.

    On second run of the game, tried to mess around in options a bit (nothing was there except the basic defaults to choose from). Didn't pick anything, but...
    Started up a new single player grand campaign and had the text issue.

    Tried Alin's fix. Worked fine, well, it did when I got around to unzipping it in the actual folder it belonged in. Unzipping that file to .../mod/EB2/ doesn't do any good, for those of you who like to mess things up like I do. Gotta go all the way to .../mod/EB2/data

    I was having the same issue with the shared.txt lockup at launch with my purchased via Gamersgate edition. I tried all the fixes and what-nots, reinstalled everything multiple times, blah blah blah...finally I gave up and was about to purchase MTW2 for the third time, via steam. But I said the heck with it and decided to try and activate my Gamersgate code on Steam...and the coded worked, EB worked, everything worked. Not sure if this helps anyone, but heck give it a go and try to activate your non-steam gold edition on Steam.

    I'm using the CD version, i used the one for disc install, when i tried the one for steam it won't even load the game,then i tried the using the 3 launchers in the EB folder and they gave me the ''Shared.txt.'' CTD and after trying Alin's fix when custom battle is loading the same window will appear but the loading screen still behind and when it click on ok then it will go to desktop.

    Crashing every 10 or so turns, almost always when the game gets to the rebels on the end turn screen. The game says "Medieval 2 has encountered an unknown error and will now close". Not at PC right now so I can't get a log, even if there is one. I'm on Steam. Using the correct shortcut. Windows 7 64 bit.
