Because the Steam people would be very jelous and start riots because lesser men had things they didn't.
Also because they are still desperately fixing up last bits and pieces.

It's been eight years. Another day or two or ten doesn't matter.

I see- just a thought. Anyway better that there is a delay than a big bug and a day 1 or 2 hotfix.

Those issues were solved, as stated there will be one installer for both retail and steam.

If those issues were solved than why are waiting 8 more days? I heard the delay until today was because of the steam issues. Are there more issues?

What is the installer exactly? Does it just extract compressed files to their proper folders or am I missing something? I'm sure it's much more complex than that.

Because of the steam patch they gotta make the installer produce a kingdoms.exe, if im not mistaken. There probably are other stuff it does.
Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

Nope, we're using the kingdoms launcher for Steam which required some fidling to work out of the box.
There are other things that are needed, it's not just a simple archive.

I believe the mod db release date of August 30th is confusing some people.
