    Default periods?

Will there be an early period campaign and a late period campaign like it was in med1 or do we have to start in the early period?

What?? you mean you cant start at the beginning of the three different periods? thats really stupid... So you have to play three hundred years of the campaign before you can use gothic knights...

They had to wait in real life too.

I don't know if you played Rome, but in that game you couldn't skip ahead either. If playing a roman faction you had to wait for the Marius reforms before getting your hands on the really great units. I don't think it will matter much to me, in fact I think it will add interest, as some factions are stronger in the beginning, while others are stronger in the late era.

If you want to try those units, you could do custom battles, although I much prefer playing a campaign where the outcome will matter to my situation.

Yea Ive played rome, and the marius reforms were annoying so i modded them to be available from the beginning. Also, since I dont plan on buying M2TW until a good mod is ready (or if I join a modding team), there probably will be mods with each era starting seperately. Until then, its Chivalry total war all the way!!

Are you talking about Chivalry TW or MTW2?

If Chiv, amazing stuff they do with the RTW engine still.

If MTW2, there will be no eras.

There will be eras in M2tw people, read Palamedes' blog

    They combined:

Early, high and late period and also a combined period for fun in random and mp battles.

Guess we have a looooong campaign ahead of us then! I wonder if it will be 1 or 2 turns per year?

There are no more years, only turns.

    Lots and lots.

Meaning I don't know. I think it was to allow the player to keep playing as long as he/she wished, as its kinda odd to be storming a castle with your brave Knights in 1999.

i think the turns were somewhere between 400 to 500...unless it was 200?

    EDIT:

    from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medieva...ar#Turn_System

Although details on the new turn system are sketchy at best, developers have confirmed that Medieval II will no longer use seasons or years as its means of keeping track of time. Rather a system of "turns" will be devised, with each turn representing a certain, perhaps undefined, amount of time. For example, the game will not begin in the year 1080 and end in 1530, but instead will begin on turn 1 and end on turn 225, although players can keep playing past that point if they wish. There are still summer and winter turns like in “Rome”.

Hmm... i think ill stick to a short campaign then, at least that way I get to be different factions all the time.

I wanna play the game for two main reasons... 1. I wanna be the Scots and have sweat revenge over the English, I will take particular delight in killing Edward I and Edward II. 2. I wanna change the history of the crusades by actually succeeding as a catholic faction in outremer. So playing it in a later period doesn't so much interest me anyway.

EDIT: Thanks for the link Matty. 225 turns seems a little short though.

EDIT 2: Just contradicted myself... guess its time for bed.

Just to confirm: there are eras in CUSTOM BATTLES AND MP, not in the campaign. The campaign willrun for 225 turns as well.

I think not. It ends there. 1530, was it?
