Default DeI Campaign Journal - Player journal of DeI campaigns

Welcome to the campaign diaries. Here you can read about updates on players' campaigns in DeI, and even share yours. I have put a format below to help maintain uniformity in the diaries.

    • Campaign updates will be in form of screenshots and snippets of information. This is not an AAR or Let's Play.
    • Screenshots should be of only overview (Press Tab key) to give general idea of situation, and army lists.
    • You can reserve maximum of two posts (even consecutive) for this. How you use the posts is up to you. The limit is per journal, and not per member.
    • The update screens and the overview info need to be in spoilers.
    • The journal needs to have the campaign information as mentioned in the below template.
    • Posting and discussion is allowed, but it needs to be on-topic and follow the ToS.
    • Lastly, once you reserve post(s), ensure to start on the journal. Inactive posts will be deleted after a reasonable amount of time.

    Campaign information
    - Faction you are playing as,
    - Sub-mods you use, or just DeI,
    - Difficulty level,
    - Turn number at the start of each update.

Looks good, I can see some red flags at the top there so presumably there is war with the Suebi but where are you planning on going next? That over bloated Hellenic League looks like it needs to be taken down a peg or two: it's conquest will undoubtedly open the gateway to the riches of the East!

That is the humongous German confederation, though I must hand it to them for still fighting wars on 3 fronts. The Hellenic league is now a client state, so I make money off them too. Helvetia is another one. The current focus is to continue the German war, and fight Masaesyli and take over Africa.

By the way, the idea seemed quite popular in the other thread, but no one is posting here.

Its too "official" haha, I dunno. By the way, how did the Masaesyli take over all the other Numidian factions? Was it through because I didn't think they could confederate. Also I find it interesting that the Ptolemaic-Seleucid conflict didn't have a victor yet. Generally, from my experience Seleucids get cut up by ptolmaics and ex-clients.

Seleucids are much better off with the limited recruitment mod since most of their single province satrapies that declare war against them can't recruit as fast as they can.

    Arche Bosphorus campaign

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    These were my original plans.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

They were supposed to happen until the Roxolani sent a hero to sabotage one of my peaceful settlements, I decided not to take any risks and took matters in my own hands.
    New plan of attacks:

I will have to betray my allies to assure total victory in the long run, however this is hard as they have reinforced their towns.
I decided to take the Daorsi on (pink) with my armies that I was about to train (in 3 turns I have 40 units up in my recruiting settlement) those armies are of course top gear armies.

The Roxolani campaign was bound to be a short one as I sent my most excellent army to smash them apart, I also had to adapt my tactics to beat their horse arches, this tactic is now fully operational.

I shall show you how I usually proceed in such a battle later on.

The Roxolani campaign now, after taking preparations and, this is at turn 217 (mind you, the first screenshot was before I had all my settlement ready for mass production of armies)
I also resigned on the plan to take out the Daorsi and decided to take on their easier neighbour first, this was a good decision and I learned alot by fighting against other greek factions, it prepares me well against the upcoming challenge: Seleucid and Pontus.

Within 3 turns the Roxolani shall be destroyed, here is my temporary plan of action after this happens:

The black squarish thingies (forgot the word) are enemy strongholds, those are cities that I will have to take with a specific stategy as there are around 6 full stack armies there.

What are the Army lists? Is it just a screenshot of the scroll with army info?

Yes, you can reserved maximum 2 posts, one after the other, for your campaign.

Well, this is something which people asked me to know the army composition I used. All you need a screen of the army stacked, and cropped to include just that. Do this for all armies. I'll put mine soon. Although, you can also do this any way you want.

I enjoyed your screens spirroouu, with the pro painting arrows ^^

So you fight horse-archers armies with 6 archers and artillery?

Thanks for the compliment, my arrows are made with paint in case you wondered, and we all know that is by far the best editing program there is.

I do but I usually split up my archers into two selection groups of three for each side they are on, so say the 3 most left ones are selection group 1 and 3 right ones 2. Then its all about micromanaging them, you usually want them to focus one guy as archers are more accurate than horse archers, so a few volleys will make him route. Only thing you need afterwards is to select different targets each time they route (or they will walk into your wall of troops).

Roman Campaign, DEI + historical legions, 30unit armies, historical development submod, new edicts, TTT, public order nightmare mod, Dresden's sack, liberation and diplomatic mod

I'm in turn 106, no civil war yet which surprises me...

I have 5 full stack armies with 30 units each, they are all equal as shown in the screen below.

Carthage gave me a hard beat in the first 30 turns, Suebis rushed trough but were repulsed by my mighty level 6 legions and Scytia and Seleucids became the powers of the east. I have enough food to fed my people and to build up my empire due to the grain production in Africa and my fishing harbors around my empire. My next move will be attacking the Seleucids and secure Egypt and take down Syracus finally.

    Athenian Campaign

    Difficulty: Normal/Normal
    Mods: Divide et Impera

It's going well so far. Probably the my most enjoyable Rome II campaign to date.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Great Powers:
    The Hellenic League
    Seleukidai
    Ptolemaioi

    Growing Powers:
    Romani
    Cantabri
    Celtiberian Confederation

The Hellenic League is allied with the Seleukidai, Ptolemaioi and the Romani and as such control much of the world. However the threat posed by the Celtiberian Confederation continues to grow as they slowly take Ptolemaioi lands. The Romani too focused on their war with the Cantabri can't afford to invade the Iberian peninsular, while the Seleukidai and the Hellenic League are too far to offer any substantial support. The Germanic and Celtic tribes to the North are friendly with the Great Powers and aid the Romani in the war. The world is at war with West versus East.

I'm not sure where to expand next; go north? Betray and take on the my allies to the south? Or aid them in the war against the Celtiberian Confederation and Cantabri. Though I expect them to merge soon as the Roman take their lands.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
This is my basic army composition currently. Though different each army has a bit of variety depending on location, place of origin and history. Nearly every army is supplemented with a Governor/Noble Women or a Hero as well. This is very useful in maintaining public order, improving the local economy and decreasing corruption.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
It is the Winter of 215BC, Turn 232. As you can see I own a small part of North-Eastern Africa, this was due to Cyprus joining the Hellenic League after our short war with them.
