Hi DEI,
I have a quick question.. I just started a Spartan campaign and I can't seem to recruit the famed Spartan hoplites.. When will they be available? Sorry if I missed anything..

I think you have to wait until a little later on until you can recruit them - not entirely sure what building it is. I imagine you will need the level III barracks however.
You can check most details regarding recruitment and/or units stats in this very handy encyclopedia here

Leving is right, according to the encyclopedia he mentionned (I had lost the link, thanks!)
Dont forget to research the special military technology to unlock the goodies!
I didnt try Sparta in a loooooong time, but I love to fight Spartans and I saw them with the hoplites in my updated campaign, after turn 50. So pretty sure you can have them.
Enjoy the 100+ melee defense on hoplite phalanx modethose guys are beast.
Awesome! Thanks for the quick answer.. Yeah I haven't played them in a while too, but I'm a sucker for Hellenic factions. Athens is my long time favourite. Lets see if I can dominate the Hellenic League with Sparta! Boo-yah!
Oh and thanks for the encyclopedia link.. That'll come in handy!
Maybe it's even possible to implement it in-game to replace the current Rome Encyclopedia? Just an idea..
Pretty sure there is "hardcoded" and/or "time consuming" in the answer to that question... But I read that suggestion in a lot of thread and it always make a lot of sense, hope something like that can happen in the future because sometimes its hard to know whats up in Rome 2, especially with the skills and buildings trees.
My feeling is that if were possible to re-direct to a different encyclopedia other than the vanilla version, it would already have been done by now. I find that it's best simply to keep that page as well as this one pertaining to agent traits open in the background so you can do a quick alt-tab for info.
Why alt tab? just use steam in-game browser...![]()
I think the only way to change what page the game looks for in terms of the encyclopedia is to edit a certain batch file in the directory. This would require us having an installer (which we may do eventually).
