    Default Tedster's Submod :) + trait balancing

    Right, recently iv'e had a bit of free time recently so I decided to make a small sub mod for htw. Overall the changes are not major but they do effect certain factions quite allot. So here is what I'm planning on including:

    Twinrova fusion/diffusion

    As I'm sure most of you will know in a Historia mission we see the twins Koume & Kotake, now I always saw this form of Twinrova as being superior to her fused form. So I've done a bit of tampering with the scripts and now at the start of the Gerudo campaign the twins and their wind witches will appear instead of their fused form. However Twinrova will also appear , for when the Twins are killed, a turn or two later Twinrova will spawn in their place (so long as Ashinon is under the Gerudo banner that is). I did this as sort of a homage to my favourite Zelda boss really, since the twins fused after they took a battering. Plus I thought it would give the Gerudo a slight boost at the start of their campaign.


    Stalfos heroes

    Deadhand will join you after taking Kakariko, you will also be able to recruit his "arms" from the shadow temple as well


    Ikana revivals

    Following an idea I heard in the Ikana forums, was this idea that heroes respawn if they are killed, well in this sub mod they do , 10 turns into the Ikana campaign, and as long as you have Ikana then heroes will respawn after they are killed. Whilst I understand that this will make the game OP Ikana desperately need a boost

    Building on an idea I had, when the Gohma manage to invade the Forest temple, then Sulkaris will transform from her spider form, into her lovely original form, not only that but Mido will then join you and you will be able to recruit Viridgohma from any of the specialist hives


    King Dodongo appears

    King Dodongo will join the Gorons after they take Dodongos cavern


    I'm also hopefully going to add a few more unique traits and ancillaries, just to make things a bit more interesting.

    Well that's about it really, as I said no major changes just some additions I thought that would make the mod awsome. I'm hoping to release this in the next few weeks, ill try and post some screenshots soon, but no promises. Also just one question can anyone tell me how to make event screens like the ones that appear for heroes and tell you what's happening, if someone could tell me how to make one that would be great .



    -Edit first release -
    Well ladies and gentlemen it's here Tedster's submod v1.0 and my non submod trait balance. With the balance I haven't had a chance to go through every single hero but the starting heroes now should have much better starting stats, i've focused mainly on command and loyalty. For the rest of the submod here's an change log:

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read: 
    - Twinrova twin fusion, Koume & Kotake repace Twinrova at the start of the Gerudo campaign when they are killed they will be replaced by their fused form.
    - Deadhand joins the Stalfos after taking Kakariko, his arms can be recruited from there as well.
    - Stallord joins the Stalfos after taking Arbiter's grounds
    - King Dodongo joins the Gorons after taking dodongo's cavern
    - Infested Mido joins the Gohma after taking Deku Tree's Grove, the kokiri mido will disappear as well
    - Sulkaris restored, when Sari is killed and the sacred forest grove is captured, bug sulkaris will disappear and sulkaris's true form will appear, you will also be able to recruit viridgohma from any of the specialised hives
    - ikana revives, if any ikana hero is killed they will respawn the next turn providing they have Ikana and it s at least 5 turns into the campaign (At the moment they can only revive once each but that will increase each version)
    - more agents, the following factions can now recruit merchants:
    • hylians
    • lanaryu
    • moblins
    • darknuts
    • kokiri
    • lizalfos

    - following factions can now recruit priests

    • Darknuts
    • Fairies
    • Gerudo

    - numerous changes to the building file (A massive thanks to @Geblide for letting me incorporate parts of his submod)
    • the new merchant factions can now build a low level market
    • Zuna units can be recruited in markets, only after they have been absorbed
    • Dodongo caves can only be built if they have dodongo's cavern, but the units can be recruited whenever after it is built
    • subrosians can be recruited from mines
    • the Kokiri can recruit huskus from the forest alliance building
    • Sheikah and wizzrobe can now build the hylian buildings from their techtree's
    • a few other changes I may have forgotten
    • also fixed one or two unlocalised text bugs as well
    • Darknuts can recruut absorbed faction units from their foreign barracks
    • Wizzrobes can recruit acolytes from any conquered hylian territory



    Well there you have it, I would love to here your thoughts and opinions on this submod, bear in mind this is my first one ever and maybe even throw a few ideas at me as well. to install simply open the file till it says Hyrule just place it over the original and it should work fine also the trait balance is included in the submod so you only need to download one or the other.

    Heres whats in the new version:

    Bongo Event- In the Sheikah campaign you will now be offered to join Bongo and her interlopers, with different outcomes based on your response.
    Yaraxonal or Vaati choice- At the start of the Darknut campaign you will be asked if you want to have Yaraxonal or Vaati as your advisor, which will affect your relations with nearby factions.
    Volvagian alliance- after the gerudo or lizalfos gain a certain number of settlements an event will pop up telling them that the Volvagians have joined them, Dakkon will also join as a hero unit.
    Demise change- Demise will now start off in his Imprisoned form, but after getting killed he will turn into his humanish form.
    Dethl appears- Dethl will join the stalfos at around turn 30 so long as they have Kakariko under their control.
    Capital and temple garrisons- when a captal or temple are under siege a unit will spawn for that faction in a similar fashion as the triforce vanguard, a list of which can be seen in previous posts.

    building file differences:
    -several factions can now recruit spies and assassins in bars/taverns, the Sheikah can recruit there actual unit versions as well
    -if the sheikah say yes to the bongo event then they will be able to recruit the units, they wouldn't be able to in death stance.
    -Labbrynna now have a building that boosts their "religion", called the museum of technology, they can also recruit a priest now as well. thanks to eldren for that one.
    -fixed the bug that causes the tarm foundation to be buildable by everyone
    -fixed a problem where certain factions couldn't build markets

    other changes:
    -Events now happen, so you know what is going on
    -Prince Zant now becomes King Zant upon winning the Civil War
    -Olg now starts as a hero unit for Zant
    -The Sheikah can now go into death stance without crashing the game, but they won't get Kakariko
    -The Sheikah can now build Goddess Cathedrals
    -may be one or two things I missed but I think that is everything


    This version also has everything that was in V1.0.

    So there we go V2.0 id love to hear your opinions on it, and any suggestions on any other things I could add to this submod, and of course I hope you enjoy it as well

    -EDIT patch

    Here is a patch that will fix several problems with the latest version. Plus I have added in most of the new features from the latest community patch, plus a few extras as well.

    Changes and fixes
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read: 
    - Death Stance now works as it should, the Sheikah will take Kakariko upon entering death stance (Thanks to Elfonz0 for finding the fix)
    -The Bongo event has been pushed back to turn 15 to give the player a chance to do more as the Sheikah
    -The Kokiri can now recruit spies from milk bars
    -The Lizalfos can recruit assassins from their sacrificial temple
    -Fixed the texture glitch for the Horon Maku Tree


    So there you have it, it will probably be a while till I release version 3 what with college and work now taking up most of my time, but i'm hoping to get it finished by the end of September.

    To install the patch just go into the mods folder of medieval total war 2 and just place in the file below. NOTE you must have already installed V2.0 for this to work correctly.

    With the Twinrova part, though, have you managed to fix the issue where only Kotake is present? Something I noticed with some of the Historia units(specifically, General Rutela, Fairy Veran, Koume & Kotake, Bongo, and Zelda I in Royal Retreat) is that the character that represents them isn't present elsewhere.

    My theory for that is the characters themselves are the generals, so it makes sense if they fall as opposed to some random general.

    I have indeed fixed this issue, both the twins are present. And yes you are 100% correct about that, prince zant and queen midna are like that as well.

    Oh, splendid! Can you tell me how you did it? Because I would like to do the same as to allow characters like these to be fully usable in custom battles.

    Siding with Zalunbar would provide a free unit of Immortals in your capital, as well as some of his personal rupees (large sum of rupees), and every city would gain an increase in public order.
    Siding with Yaraxonal would change your faction's religion to Goddess and Diety Worship, and as such would increase relations with the Gerudo (who succeed her as sage of spirit), Hyrule, and any faction that holds Goddess and Diety, Goddess, or Goddess Acknowledgement. As well as make Yaraxonal a general/faction leader, and killing Zalunbar.
    It would also inadvertently earn you favor with the Majora faction for overthrowing Vaati.
    Though, I would change it so you only get the extra money and public order with Zalunbar, and you get the religion conversion and relationship boost only with Strict Goddess Worship factions with Yaraxonal.

    hey tedster can you help me with modding the script, I've been trying to get help for a while now.

    hey is there a way to mod the script so that certain units spawn in ways, I been trying to add link and majora to the game by having it to where link spawns if you have a certain amount of settlements with complete Strict Goddess Worship, or spawn majora if it has complete worship for him. also can you do the same if a certain amount of settlements have high unrest, or a high rupee out put I kinda want to make special hero spawns for certain factions.


    also I've been trying to add items to the game like the ocarina of time, and make special ways on how to get them, is there a way to add images to the mod for certain items like the ocarina.

    It is possible to script something like "If in Hyrule Prime, 1% chance of picking up the Ocarina of Time as an ancillary"

    I think it is easier scripting it through the file "export_desc_character_traits.txt". I don´t know how it works and I have never ever modified that file. After reading the M2TW Ultimate Docudemons [look for it in the mod workshop forum], I think the script should look like this: [in export_desc_character_traits.txt just at the end of that file]

    This is just half-answer, you need to look for more necessary details. Take note that there are not other triggers in this mod, maybe because they caused crash.

    @elfonzo im not sure its possible to do it in custom battles, i could only ever make it work by givin gthem specific battle_models in the freeform, i havent managed to make both twins appear in custom battles im afraid

    As for the Yaraxonal deal, i will probablly do that later down the line first off i need to work out how to make these event screens first, seeing as it will require the player to say yes/no.

    @starwars sorry im not really sure how to make characters appear via religion, im looking into the scripts of other mods at the moment for some ideas so if i see anything ill let u know

    Im also trying to make items appear at the moment, as well all i know is that any pictures need to be tga files.

    Don't the Wizzrobe do special stuff when a settlement's religion is at a certain point. You can look at their script for Ideas.

    Are you asking how to have unique event screens? Cause I did a little digging, and found this:

    @elfonzo that might be just what I needed thanks

    In other news I've began looking at something new, the idea of Sage succession. So an example would be that when Impa is killed Azrily is named the next Shadow sage. Ideally it would be the general that killed her but, that caused nothing but crashes, so I've decided to make a form of line of succession.

    The forest sage can't have one because that creates a problem with the Sulkaris event.


    I'm not sure if I'm going to have this in the release or not as I'm having a problem or two but I'm working on it anyways.

    1. Any particular reason why certain characters inherit the title of Sage? Like why Nardu as a Water Sage, or Ilia as a Spirit Sage?

    2. For the new events, do they come with some free units? As you may know, when a general spawns via event, there's some other units with them. Is that the case here? Like will the Deadhand spawn with some of his arms?

    3. When Sulkaris captures the Sacred Forest Meadow and gains Mido, will this kill the Kokiri's Mido?

    4. Would you ever consider adding some kind of event involving Bongo?

    5. Could you make it so that if Onox falls in batle, the Stalfos gain him?

    As for nardu I thought her name sounded a bit like nayru who is the symbol of water so I sort of went with that, plus I wanted the title to spread around a bit instead of just staying with the zoras, as for llia, I'm not really sure why I'm open to a better suggestion though I'm not even sure if spreading the title over three characters is possible at the moment, I'm having a major case of duplicates happening which isn't good.

    as for the other stuff you completely read my mind or saw the future I was planning on adding all of the above. But I'm sort of going with a walk before I run deal, see how long this submod takes, see what people think, then add to it afterwards. With the spawning units, well yes dead hand will get a unit or two of his arms. Stallord will get a unit or two of Gerudo stalfos (forgot the name), King Dodongo will get some Dodongos as you would expect, Gohma mido will get some royal larvae and I'm thinking of having him joining after taking Deku trees grove instead, to prevent duplicates. As for reborn Sulkaris she will get some vividgohma and I'm planning on adding a extra point where Saria has to be dead for Sulkaris to get her body back.

    For Dead Hand, i don't think his arms should be recruitable, it would not be logic. But they should appears side to him, like, 1 bunch of arms every 3 turns or something like this.

    I've always had a different idea for Sages. Similar how in Westeros Total War, if a person is in a castle for a turn and there's nobody else with the title, they gain the Lord of ___ ancillary, it could be that if there is no sage for that element and you have a general in the appropriate city (with its temple), they'd become the next sage.

    1- the sage idea is thrown out GONE, it was just causing too many problems and I like Drazules idea better.
    2- I think I am very close to being able to create some events when I am successful I shall post some screenshots.
    3- newish Idea I'm hoping to add in the premier release, elfonzo sort of reminded me about it.

    So the main idea is at turn 20 of the Sheikah campaign a little screen will pop up and ask you a question, do you want to join Bongo and the Interloopers? There are huge consequences for either answer.

    yes- Impa will piss off back to Zelda, but you will gain a new hero Bongo (with her own special model), you will also be locked into death stance as well and lose your alliances with Hyrule and Ordona and starts a war with The KOH. But if you don't have it already then Kakariko will come under your control, you will get a large army of Sheikah. Ordinary Sheikah troops like spies and Truthbeares can be recruited from within the tech tree. As well as the special Interlooper units.

    no- Impa stays, Bongo gets her head chopped off and the Sheikah stay as they are, but with a slight difference , the turn after Bongo-Bongo will appear as a general for your army and you will be able to recruit devoured from the shadow temple, you will also still get to choose between death stance and shadow stance as well.


    How does that sound?

    So basically:
    Bongo: Gain Bongo as General, ability to recruit Interloper units, Impa joins KoH, declare war on KoH, break alliance with Ordona, forced into Death Stance
    Impa: Gain Bongo-Bongo as General, ability to recruit Devoured, can still switch between the stances

    I can definitely see the pros and cons of both sides. Personally, I'd probably go with Bongo, if only so I can play a Hotseat campaign as the Sheikah and not have everyone else get the annoying "Stance Change" pop-up.
    If possible, could you make it so the Sheikah gain a relationship boost with the Gerudo/Moblins if you choose Bongo?

    What is the exact year this event will occur? Because I would recommend having it occur around the time characters like Ogalon spawn.

    One last thing. This may seem a little bit of an overload on the suggestions, but do you think you could do an event where Demise starts in his Imprisoned form, and upon his death, becomes his humanoid form? Basically, the same as the Twinrova event but with Demise.

    I like the concept, but besides getting a boost of troops, I'm not sure declaring war on KOH is really a great balance for getting just Bongo when the other side nets with one general more. What if siding with Bongo gave you Bongo as she appears in Ganon's arc, and access to the Devoured from the Shadow Temple because she would be posessed by Deathl and could produce such monstrosities. War and army still included. Joining with Impa could then provide with access to Skull Knights from the Shadow Temple, and shadow + death stance and improved relationship with Hyrule.
