What news about plans for MTW2 expansions?

Number of unhappy voices grows even before MTW2 release so if any of you people have heard about any plans for expansions?(in the meaning that they can offer some improvments)

First, I would say the actual numbers of unhappy people is actually getting less thanks to the new open tactic of CA and especially to Palamedes.
But right now there are no news on the expansion.
I know that they are discussing it at the moment however but I think they are more busy making the game better before going gold.

I'd love to see a crusader expansion, but didn't CA say something about the Americas?

hmm..the first mtw had the viking expansion, i dont think they should use this again, they should either do one of three "invasions" for the expansion, how about the "crusader invasion", but again the game is about 60% about crusades..so maybe "the jihad invasion" like when islam was first born and they went to the height of their power, or of course they could use a mongol invasion..it was done with shogun...and it was a very significant event, however they are already in the game so it might be pointless to do that, on second thought eliminate the crusade and mongol expansion,, put back as the top two candidates for the expansion to be either the viking invasion (but this time the vikings should have the whole map not just britain) and the islamic jihad...althought a "invasion of the americas" exapansion might work too? or a renaisance...

I personally would like another viking invasion, didnt play the first one, but vikings and saxons ect fighting each other in the new graphics and battle engine would be amazing.

They could also properly incorparate the battle of hastings.

On the expansion, New World Invasion probaly....though I'd prefer if it were something completely different from any content in the game.

What's this new world stuff? The new world's battles were all pitifully small, even during the 18th cent during the Guerre de Sept Ans you only had 1500 men a side in the biggest battles...

I mean the Indians were stone age people, barely on the edge of survival...in Canada they were forced to resort to cannibalism during the winters...battles in Canada's 1600s were like 25 Iroquois would show up to pound 7 or 8 Frenchmen to death with their clubs. The real war in North America is between man and the savage elements.

Really Total War in the New World is going to be pretty pitiful...The Indians just didn't have the resources for big sustained campaigns...

As for Renaissance; well this game goes up to 1525AD...As far as I'm concerned the Renaissance is from say, 1380 to 1530, so we've already got Renaissance Total War in M2TW. I mean, Francis I of France took in Leonardo and had him stay with him until he died, and that is pretty much the end of the High Renaissance by then. And as you can see with the Battle of Pavia, we have Francis I in M2TW so we already are well into the Renaissance, almost at its end actually. Once the Spanish take over Italy they pretty much shut down the Renaissance as a matter of policy. I suppose you could say Frederick Barbarossa started the Renaissance by hiring a bunch of Latin scholars to find legal precedents to reinforce his imperial power against the Papacy in antique writings but really I wouldn't put the start of the Renaissance before 1330. The Renaissance came late to England, so I suppose you could put it there from say 1550 to 1620, but then you're past the Renaissance and well into the Maniera which is something quite different then the Renaissance.

So what is next for Total War? Wars of the Protestant Reformation? That would be cool; very nasty and dark and crazy and ultra violent and sadistic. Lots of mass rape and torture and assassinations and sorcery and secret agents and wild uprisings led by really demented people...Germans that made Hitler and the NAZIs look like reliable sensible businessmen. Like the uprising at Munster. And massacres...the St. Bartholemew's Massacre and the massacre of 1/3 of what is now Germany's population, throwing them right back into the dark ages. Horrible, particularly as they did it all with this very peculiar and elaborately well reasoned self righteous religiosity. Perfect for TW.

The viking invasion remake sounds good, but is a little to predictable dont you think? i would love an american based expansion with native american factions such as the myans, aztecs and incas being playable as wel as the spanish and the likes.
