Is there a hidden stat to them? They look like crap, but I just lost my whole cavalry because of them!
Two units of Cappadocian levies charged my pikemen. I decided without much thinking that this would be the perfect situation to charge them with my cavalry. I selected two units of hetairoi and attacked. Then the surprise happened: Both hetairoi were down to less than half their strength immediatly after the charge, as I tried to pull them back they routed, while the Cappadocian levies lost about five men. Next time I selected my general and charged again, with the same outcome...
In all my battles before the hammer and anvil was the single most powerful tactic and charging into the rear of units (even spearmen and pike units) usually resulted in a rout.
Why not with the Cappadocian levies? The hetairoi charged way stronger spear units in other battles and came out without a scratch...
