It was going to happen. This goes well over the top and far from any kind of reality. They were doing so well with patch 14...

Women fighters should be a rarity. Free or not. Not something you'll come across regualrly, even in 2014 women fighters on the battle field or anywhere for that matter is a rarity.

this is LC... free content.. you cannot turn it off... you can only turn off DLCs...

Right mouse click, choose 'view downloadable content' and then you can turn on [✔] or off [ ] whatever you want:


Personally I like both the free-LC and the DLC, so will be buying it, if it's in the Beast of War price tier.

but personaly I don't have any problems with three woman units.
But for sure I will not buy the DLC, and it is the first DLC I will not buy.

of course it is possible
but personaly I will not use this kind of mod. I have no problem with the free-lc (women and suebi)

But I still can not wait for a "politics" DLC, free or not

@Jam come on those Scythian units also existed in Rome 1. I loved them. Amazons I think we had in Medieval 2. There is nothing shocking about it, is it?

Other than the camera issue you have an alternative. You simply do not have to use the units in your game do you, so do you really mind that your Rome 2 will grow by a few MB of data? I can understand if you are just complain about it as a principle or you or others may feel offended thinking about historical authenticity again.

I think we can add female generals but with a risk of giving them Male names, but I think you can add female unit leaders, as a separate type as in, so there would be a 50-50 chance of a female unit leader.

I think some people might be upset about Gladriatrices and sorts Joey.

True If you travled far enough up in the right corner, there would be a rebel stack of female warriors.

Indeed there were women gladiators and some evidence of women fights in rare cases of certain cultures... Heck, I was even doing a sig pic for next week with boudica. I just don't like history messed up- I want to see how it WAS not some 21st century-feminist idealism of how it wasn't. That's why i play Total War.

Gladiators in combat? NO. they were not part of legions.. they were slaves... the only way how they would get into real combat, was if their masters would give them to the city defense in case there is a direct threat to the city... it happened few times, but it was not the norm. yet those men, were not fighting in Gladiatorial armor, as it was completely unsuitable for real combat.. it was designed to even the odds between opponents.. in real combat, you don't want to even the odds with your enemy...

and woman as gladiators? No.. the only times they were in the arena was during executions.. but they were butchered by gladiators, they didn't got an honor to die with sword in hands... Ancient society was brutal by today's standards...

ok, looks like i misunderstood the first post.. i thought those woman units are free LC.. luckily they are not.. therefore i apologize to those who feel offended, i will not buy the DLC same way as i didn't bought Beasts of War. It is quite funny, as up until now, i bought everything for every Total War game out there... yet with Rome 2, this is second DLC i wont be buying.

While I couldn't care less about the female unit pack (or really the free one since I play mods) I am excited to see that CA seems to be responding to the community's criticisms by plugging gaps in Suebi roster, fixing siege AI, etc. Hopefully we'll finally have an in depth political system in the near future.

BTW, CA I would GLADLY pay for dlc which offered an intriguing political system. After seeing the trailers for Rome 2 I was incredibly hopeful about what the factions might be and how internal power struggles would play out only to be pretty disappointed when the game came out.

But again, good work! I think the game is not only playable now, but very enjoyable.
