You guys are all heckling this, but aren't the female units optional?
Not the units in the FLC...not that some Scythian Horse Archers would be completly ahistoric ,but the units themself and their stats are and the Suebi female unit even more.

So, the total impact to somebody who doesn't buy the DLC is 3 units across 2 factions (assuming the AI actually buys these units to their limit)?

If you had one unit using a MP18 as a weapon and if the AI would only recruit few of them it would be fine ?

Because there's no spectrum between a female unit and one using modern weaponry, right? If we have one or two slightly ahistorical units, those units might as well be Tyrannosaurs with lazers?

Don't make it so binary...that's a pretty blatant false dichotomy.

This DLC has screwed up my game not sure which mods to use now as I have validated the cache and reinstalled and deleted mods but so far it is only worked with no mods for me must mean this content is bad omen for me as it has stopped Rome II working again tired of keep on starting again.

There were no such things as the equality of the sexes in the ancient era so keep dreaming by making up lies changing by history with some unnecessary content to suit the purposes of an minority group of people who want change things to suit their own purposes without a care for majority is where the money is made.

I'm sure there will also be a unit of Jeanne d'Arc-clones, if they are going to produce another Medieval-game.

All the Rome II DLCs are downloaded to your game, regardless of being purchased or not. So, there is nothing preventing the AI from deploying female units, even if somebody didn't buy the DLC.

I'd never once seen a BoW unit used by the AI prior to buying it; can somebody confirm that the AI actually does use them even if the player hasn't purchased?

The DLC are dowloading because of the MP. So you can play with everybody regardless the dlc they have. But if you don't pruchase a dlc, you can not use/recruit the units of the dlcs.
Now about the AI, it is a good question. I don't know if the ai use or not use the dlc units if you do'nt purchase the dlc. I bought all the dlc except this last one. It is a good question to CA.

I've not bought any and so far my game has remained free of flying bee hives and Roman amazon warriors. (Then again, Rome never gets out of Italy either, so I doubt they'd ever managed a level 3 Gladiator building to recruit anything from in the first place)

it is a bad news, because I don't want to have the units of this dlc during my campaign .... I have no problem with 3 units, but not 8.
so we have to wait for a mod which will delete the unit of the dlc ?

A DLC I've been waiting for since forever! It's about time we got some female warriors in a Total War period - given women have historically fought in every age of history. It's insulting to suggest otherwise, really. Kudos to CA for remembering this! Now if only I could appoint some female Generals... perhaps a future DLC.

Wait. So it's insulting to suggest there weren't female combat units in the ancient roman world? And the Romans didn't use female gladiator units in battle?

No, I'd say its insulting to suggest that they didn't exist at all.
While they were probably never used in the field of battle, this is well, a game. The option to do so is certainly a thing. Same as its an option to make an entire Legion of Praetorians - despite them being bodyguards of the Emperor, and not some thousands strong army marching for Rome.

I may have misworded my post, but it was my intent to say its insulting to say women have never been on the fields of battle in history.

A more realistic approach would've been to have female garrison units or some mixed gender recruitable units. This game is now suggesting that you could hire female army's LMAO.

Its an an insult to suggest that children were never used in battle. Let's have a children dlc.

I have often seen units for the Illyrians that were added by the DLC, although I haven't bought it. Maybe, what I said is true only for the factions DLCs.

This would make more sense (the campaign DLCs or culture packs that expand the base factions, not the Unit Pack DLCs)

ooks like CA might be a little more in line with what is now known about nomadic warrior societies in Eurasia than those beating their hairy male chests here about the absurdity of a female warrior possibly existing. Phew thankfully CA look to be doing their homework. The author of the above work is a well-known and respected Archaeologist and the above is published in an academic journal in that field.
You know, Noble Duke of York, it's pretty clear you didn't read or don't care to respond to the in depth responses on this subject. Because there are plenty of people aware of archaeological finds and they have been addressed in this topic and in the past.

A DLC I've been waiting for since forever! It's about time we got some female warriors in a Total War period - given women have historically fought in every age of history. Not one poster here could provide an actual historical reference to females fighting in pitched battles or campaigns in the ancient world. The most evidence we have of any participation are:
    1. When entire cities or populations were being slaughtered as their cities were sacked.
    2. Finds that may suggest females among the nomads occasionally fought. Or, they may have just been noble women who had burials with weapons because they were warrior societies. No one knows who used the equipment and it's pure speculation.

So, yea, it's insulting to tell me that there were units of German women armed with spears fighting against the Romans in pitched battles, or that such a thing would have occurred under any set of circumstances. It's so insulting to my intelligence that I can't believe anyone actually believes that.

also History was written by the victors - so being on the Victor side - CA can do what ever they want be it with the game suck it up
Every forum you go to, more people are ranting about this than not. Maybe it's just a vocal minority, but CA won't have a fanbase left to anger at this rate.

They've burned a lot of bridges with Rome 2 and they should be working to repair trust. The next title, which won't be a sequel to their golden goose (Rome 1), won't have the benefit of the same level of goodwill. Choices like this are going to turn CA into a loser.

Again people disliking something aren't haters, people mindlessly calling other people haters on the other hand are simply stupid.
