I have searched the faq as well as this forum trying to find a list of factions that are in the game without success, was hoping someone in the know could list all factions distinguishing from playable and non-playable if known.
Thanks.

You're pretty much right on.
* England - yellow and red (red dominant)
* Holy Roman Empire - yellow and black
* France - light blue and white
* Republic of Venice - dark brick red and yellow
* Spain (Castile) - yellow and red (yellow dominant)
The rest have to be unlocked:
* Egypt (presumably the Fatimid dynasty (Early Period), Ayyubid dynasty (High Period) and finally the Mamluks (Late Period)) - tanish/yellow and black
* Byzantine Empire - purple and white
* Moors (presumably the Almoravid dynasty (Early Period) and Almohad dynasty (Late Period)) - orange and white
* Scotland - dark blue and white
* Denmark - red and white (red dominant)
* Portugal - light blue and white (white dominant)
* Poland - red and white (white dominant)
* Milan - green and white
* Sicily - white and black
* Russia - dark blue and red
* Hungary - orange and green
* Turks (presumably the Seljuq dynasty (Early Period) and Ottoman Empire (Late Period) - green and yellow
Also, certain factions appear during the campaign game (called Emerging Factions), but are only playable in custom battles:
* Aztec Empire - light blue and yellow
* Timurids - black and red
* Mongol Empire/Golden Horde - dark green and tan/white (?)
* Papal States yellow and white
* The Rebel Provinces are also a faction, represented on the campaign map by the same grey colours as in previous games.
ohhh i didnt know venice was playable from the start, i think ill play them instead of france
That wilkipedia has just about everything! Thanks for the info... which buggers up my plans of being the Scotts to start with, guess I'll make do with the English for now then. As for now... I must sleep... very tired... eyes burning... dreams calling... medieval 2 getting a day closer...
If deception is an art, then the world is full of artists!
Trust No One!
*OR* You could just go to the proper text data file in your M2TW directory and highlight "scotland", and*cut* then click on the "Playable" section and *paste*. Done, now you can play scotland. Now way in hell am I gonna play some English fish n chipers in M2TW, maybe later, but I'm unlocking the Moor right away and playing them first.Originally Posted by verena xeventus
Can point out that the Aztecs won't be an emerging faction.
They are on the map when the game start unlike the Mongols and Timurids.
You just can't go to them from the start.
i'm not a modder, so is it possible to make the Mongols playable or not ?
i'd love to play as Mongols and " ass-rape " Europe (as Marty said , not me, so don't blame me, the faithfull european bros )

Some Medieval Great Turk Emperors Flags
TimurİDS: (1370-1512) muslim
Golden Horde: (1242-1503) 1242-1262 pagan ... 1262-1503 muslim
Great selcuklu: (1040-1157) muslim

No Bourgondie??
Thats retarded, one third of western europe was under their control.
Oh well guess its too much to ask to get your facts right about the middle ages.
Foyatz, CA have said that that's an old version of the Polish faction symbol, they have the correct white eagle on red background in the full game.
Neroic, and neither are factions such as Aragon, Bohemia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and some factions have been lumped together for ease of gameplay such as Spain(should be Castille and Leon). CA made their choices for factions, there was no way they could please everyone.
