Faltering AI pathfinding during siege
First things first - forgive the name, this is an old account.
Secondly, great mod, getting back to a RTR feel is wonderful - far more immersion and depth to the factions, characters and armies.
Now, my gripe. I just had a siege at Patavium playing as Rome against a far superior Raeti army. This all takes place on a tight corner of the city with their 4 ladders all landing on the same part of the wall. This means thousands of troops piling into a small portion of wall. The AI was behaving erratically and the pathfinding became ridiculous. This happened during two attempts and both times my units on the ground refused to move up onto the walls - except for the thinnest of trickles (4 or 5 every minute out of 240). Also my javelin men refused to fire on the enemy on the walls from the ground, often deciding that the best course of action was instead to engage in melee (no they weren't in contact with enemy troops).
Is this an issue others are having or just me? I have a pretty powerful computer so I don't think that's the issue. It's just pretty frustrating when I'm sitting there thinking there's a chance to win the battle through tactics and then at crucial points my units won't throw their javelins and my garrisoned swordsmen/town guards outright refuse to do what I tell them. Could this be patch 14 with the siege AI updates? Or maybe an issue with the increased unit sizes?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Faltering AI pathfinding during siege
I have the same issue.
One factor I think is greatly influencing the pathfinding issue, is if the city model used has been correctly programmed.
In some fiefs I had no problems, in others all my orders which were issued were never correctly followed (even in the streets sometimes! but most of the problems comes from moving from walls->ground or ground->walls).
Dont know if DeI can change that, but if they can then please do ! xD

Re: Faltering AI pathfinding during siege
Yes, path finding is a serious problem. In my last siege the AI sent their whole army up on ladders. I don't even try to hold the walls anymore. Somehow my gates randomly opened in the middle of the battle though I had give no orders to move and the gatehouse was neutral I believe. In other sieges when trying to order my troops onto the wall they decided to exit the city and tried to use the enemy ladders to get onto the wall. Needless to say they died for their stupidity. I think it was vanilla, but another example of path finding, a Gallic army besieged my city and a skirmishers glitched unto one ladder. All 120 of them were on the top rung firing missiles but were invincible because of the ladder. I'm also unable to move troops along the walls sometimes, they decide to go down the stairs and take the long way around. However these are CA problems, hopefully DeI can fix them.
