Icon1 A Pirate's Cold Embrace Submod Development Thread

    Hello.

I am currently working on a submod I like to call the A Pirate's Cold Embrace*.

The submod will have two parts:

The Ice Warriors and the Piratians.

There are plans to include Poe units, but for now, I'm going to focus on Ice and Piratian.

Details on the Piratians will come later.

    Ice Warriors:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Ice Warriors are a collection of units all factions will have access to if they control Snowpeak. All of these units are based off of ice creatures from the Zelda games. Also, they are based on the many requests that were made during the early days of the mod for an Ice faction.

    Ice Warrior Unit Roster:
    Blizzeta
"Blizzeta," or more commonly known as "Yeta," is a Yeti with access to an ancient powerful magic allowing for the creation of ice. With this magic, Blizzeta is capable of producing entire armies made completely of ice. Blizzeta offers anyone who commands Snowpeak her soldier in exchange for continued residency in Snowpeak Manor. In battle, Blizzeta forms a massive ice shell around her and attacks with large icicles. She is capable of decimating entire armies of whoever seeks to evict her from her home.

Blizzeta will be available for hire after a faction controls Snowpeak for quite a long time. If Blizzeta falls in battle, ice units can no longer be recruited.

    Yeto

Yeto, husband of ice wizard Yeta, and culinary master. While not the greatest with words, and perhaps intellect, few would argue of this beasts skill with cooking. Maker of the greatest stew in all of Hyrule, it is said such stew has the power to cure any illness and even bring the dead back to life. Yeto uses his signature stew to heal his wife when she expends her energy producing armies. Yeto is willing to crush anyone who intends to harm Yeta, and uses his thick arms and tail to destroy his foes.

Yeto will be available for hire after a faction controls Snowpeak for some time.

    Kholdstares

One-eyed, hulking monstrosities with wicked claws and a soulless glare, Blizzeta produces Kholdstares to finish off soldiers her Freezors and Mini Freezards weakened. Effective and power shock troops, Kholdstares are best used against an already weakened army, tearing through those foolish enough to stand their ground.

Kholdstares can be recruited from Snowpeak if it is a Large City.

    Freezillas

Large, icy dragon-like sculptures, Freezillas spew large bursts of ice at their enemies. Freezillas are typically placed along Snowpeak's ridge, giving them an excellent vantage point to assault invading armies, regardless of where they are.

Mega Freezards can be recruited from Snowpeak if it is a City.

    Freezors

Freezors are Yeta's primary infantry force. Thought to be the remnants of captured prisoners, Freezors are a durable and strong foe. Being ice, they can shrug off sword blows and cavalry charges. Should the invaders bring horses and other assorted beasts, Freezors can deploy sharp icicles, impaling any beast that attempts to make it through.

Freezors can be recruited from Snowpeak if it is a Village.

    Chilfos
Thin, slender, graceful warriors, the Chilfos are Yeta's secondary attack force. Armed with tough icicles, Chilfos are capable of impaling enemy soldiers, as well as tossing them. While other wizards are capable of summoning these warriors, these Chilfos are higher in number and lower in quality, as a result of being mass-produced.

Chilfos can be recruited from Snowpeak if it is a Town.

    Mini Freezards

Mini Freezards are the easiest icy soldier Blizzeta can produce. Thus, they are high in number, and very weak. However, because of their small size, Mini Freezards have the uncanny ability of being able to hide just about anywhere, simply by appearing as a normal chunk of ice. Mini Freezards are usually used to swarm the enemy should they attempt to capture Snowpeak's courtyard.

Mini Freezards can be recruited from Snowpeak at all times.

    Freezards

Thought by the uninitiated to be an infantile stage of the Freezillas, Freezards are a reptilian ice creature created by Blizzeta to rain ice on her enemies. Formed out of solid, jagged ice, Freezards make great chargers, goring the unfortunate.

Freezards can be recruited from Snowpeak if it is a Large Town.

    Piratians:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Piratians currently don't have a back story nailed down. Right now, the story is they are a band of mechanical, skeletal pirates led by Admiral Dreadfuse, with other groups of Piratians in other parts of the world either under Dread Pirate Scervo or are independent.

The Piratians are to be an NPC faction, situated in the Sea of Storms(Fort of Wings), with a rebel group in the Samasa Desert(if it is possible to have rebels attack settlements), and a secondary group alongside the Lanayru Coastline(either Greshou or Seshei).

The Piratians will either replace the Wild Animals faction or the Ancient Hylians faction. If the plan is to go with the Ancient Hylians, it appears all Ancient Hylian units have textures for the Kingdom of Hyrule. Thus, it is more likely that the Ancient Hylians will be replaced with the Piratians.

The overall design of the Piratians is a mix of their Oracle appearances with facial details from Skyward Sword's Scervo.

    Main Color: Golden Rod
    Religion: No Deity Worship
    Culture: Barbaric
Rival Factions: Labrynna Regime, Lanayru Province
Cordial Factions: Zora Dominion, Lanayru Province

    Strengths, Weaknesses, and Abilities:
-Master Looters: Piratians know every trick in the book when it comes to finding hidden goodies. Piratians are capable of finding more Rupees when plundering a city.
-High Maintenance: Every soldier is either an advanced machine or a ravenous animal. Every unit has higher upkeep costs.
-Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is: Piratians will do just about anything for a large sum of Rupees.

    Piratian Unit Roster:
    Admiral Dreadfuse
Admiral Dreadfuse is the self-proclaimed "King of Pirates." No one knows where he, or his band of pirates appeared from, but they have been harassing any who paths they cross, demanding they hand over their hard-earned Rupees. However, unlike both his name and the traditional behavior of most pirates, Dreadfuse is regarded as the most honorable pirates of them all. He much prefers negotiating ransoms over cutting any throat he comes across. However, Dreadfuse will kill his prisoners if it is necessary. It is rumored there is some kind of relationship between the Admiral and Queen Ambi of the Labrynna Regime. Most tales are of how Ambi is the maker of Dreadfuse and the Piratians, others are of Dreadfuse rescuing Ambi from a shipwreck. Whether these rumors are true or not, Ambi has neither confirmed or denied them.

Admiral Dreadfuse can be found around the Fort of Wings, the rumored Piratian headquarters. His bodyguard consists of Swashbucklers.

    Scervo

Dread Pirate Scervo is often regarded as the most dangerous pirate who has ever lived. Scervo carries with him a legacy of dread, death, and destruction. Woe be to any who falls victim of his raids, as he leaves no survivors. This pirate is so feared, entire armies will flee with a bowel emptying quickness should he even so much as glance at them. Scervo does not fear death, nor does he fear. This machine has lost any sense of self-preservation, if it had any in the first place, and will gladly charge head first into battle, living for the thrill of battle.

Dread Pirate Scervo can be around the Piratian's Lanayru base, leading attacks on those around him.

    Piratian Swashbucklers

Swashbucklers are the vast majority of the Piratian forces. Armed with a random assortment of cutlasses and axes, Swashbucklers are ruthless in their methods for Rupee gain.

Swashbucklers can be hired where Piratians operate.

    Malgyorgs
Malgyorgs are a cousin of the aquatic Gyorgs. They are known to reside in areas with copius amounts of sand, such as beachs and deserts. Malgyorgs are capable of moving through sand as though it were water. These beasts are a favorite among the Piratians for tearing up traitors and hostages. Their tough, rocky heads allow them to slam through most enemies unscathed. Most Malgyorgs owned by Piratians have been bred to be able to "swim" through other types of land, such as dirt and mountain.

    Malgyorg Sharpshooters
Armed with stolen pistol technology, these Piratians ride atop adult Malgyorgs, who have grown so large, they cannot "dive" as deep as they could before. These Sharpshooters are a dangerous combination of quick, powerful charges and devastating pistol volleys. So as to allow their Malgyorg mounts to dive as deep as they can, Sharpshooters have removed their legs.

    Piratian Plunderers
These fiends are armed with dangerous and experimental blunderbusses, thought to be a stronger version of the Regime's muskets. While the range of these guns are shorter, they deal much more damage, and due to the reloading mechanism, reloading it much quicker.

    Scrappers
Scrappers are the primary workforce of the Piratians. With their ability to carry seemingly any weight, they are frequently used to haul the harvest of the latest raid. These machines have no free will, and live only to serve their pirate overlords. The other purpose of the Scrappers is to serve as cannon fodder for the Piratians. They are numerous and serving, willing to do anything for their masters.

    Deck Cannons
Utilizing even more of stolen Labrynnian tech, the Piratians have taken a fancy to their cannons. Given a new coat of paint, these cannons are used when there is a treasure hidden within a fortified city.

I have made this thread because I would like some help with this, and would like to assemble a team. Right now, I am creating the units with placeholder models, just to have their stats and such work.

If you would like to help balance these units, that would be great. If you would like to help, mainly with models, animations, and some scripting, please let me know.

If you have a suggestion for the description/backstory of any of these units, please let me know.

    @ El Fonz0
Are you interested in joining the Golden Land Mod.
Kingdom of the Golden Land Mod

We are Currently working on 3 factions.
The Kingdom of the Golden Land, The Horde of the Dark World, And The Realm Of Ice.

This spoiler has what we plan on doing for the mod at this current time.
    Spoiler for Mod News

    "News Update"
So this is the current plan. But things may change depending on what our team wants to happen for this mod.

    1) I plan on making our mod a new era. Like the Great Sea Expansion Era or the Termina Expansion Era in HTW.
Hyrule Total War: The Golden Land Era will incorporate the Kingdom of the Golden Land, the Horde of the Dark World, And Realm Of Ice.
It will take plays after/same time as the Great Sea Expansion Era. But with many "what ifs" and "did not happens".
In this Era Agahnim has yet to betray Hyrule, And the Massive flooding that took place just after Majora brought the moon closer to the Earth, Was quickly subsided do to Mass Ice growth in the north.

    2) I'm Replace or remove Absent factions that don't matter in most Campaigns some one plays. We need the extra Factions and unit slots.
The Zolas, Wizzrobes, Ikona, Stolfos, and Sheakia, along with the Church of Majora and Occoo are being removed.
Because they are Absent factions to the campaign that do not matter if they are in unless you are playing them.

    3) The HotDW will Replace the Zolas(River Zora) And Ikona. It will use the Zolas Recruitment style. But start at the Ikona mountain range.
The RoI will start Next to the Coast North of the Gorons and West of the Fairies.
The KotGL will change starting locations to the "Fort of Wings" south of the Huskus City.

    4) All 3 new factions have over sized rosters. So we need the extra space in the export_descr_unit file.
We can make sub-modes to accommodate people's preferences of what factions they want back in.

    5) The KotGL Building tree will go like this.
    Spoiler for KotGL Building Tree

The KotGL Army is quite Versital and capable But Expesive to Train(Not mantain) do to their quality of training. A settlement Must chose which way it will go in supporting The Golden Lands Cause. They have 3 sets of troop types. That they can get. Light, Medium and Heavy Troops. But only one set can me gained in a settlement. Along with the set of troops, a settlement can Erect a college of magic to be studied. One of Fire, Ice Or Earth, but only one can be gained per settlement. Other than this a Settlement can Build a Siege Lab designed to build Pacific Siege Engines. Only one of the 2 types of Siege Engines can be gained in a settlement. I appreciate the offer, and might take you up on it at a later point, but my plans for this mod are to incorporate it into the vanilla game.

It is supposed to fit in with the lore and world Neph has created, not replace anything. Nor are they supposed to be factions on their own(Ice Warriors), or full factions(Piratians)

So what, you plan on adding two new factions to the existing Hyrule? Or changing a scenario so they are the focus one one?

    Sort of.

The Piratians will be a new faction, replacing either Ancient Hylians or Wild Animals. There will be three groups of Piratians:
One in the Samasa Desert-This one will just be rebels
One in the Sea of Storms-This is the main group
One on the Lanayru Coast-Will either be rebels or the whole faction

The Ice Warriors are just my collective term for the ice units. They are not a new faction.
They are available only at Snowpeak, and to whoever controls it.
Though, I'm thinking of having Frostare and a bunch of Ice Keese become the new rebel garrison in Snowpeak before one can claim it.

Tomorrow, I might add my plans for the Piratians. However, there won't be as many pictures, as they are supposed to have different designs from their Oracle games counterparts.

    That sounds cool!

Not to start inputting my own ideas, but what if you made the Frostare be an NPC faction based out of Snowpeak?

Default Re: A Pirate's Cold Embrace Submod Development Thread

I suppose that could work, though my ideas for the Frostare are it's a Vitreous Eyeball frozen by Yeta to protect Snowpeak from both natives(Yooks and White Wolfos) and invaders, or it's just some monster that's living in Snowpeak and Yeta didn't care enough to get rid of it.

    Progress report!

I have managed to increase the range of the Chilfos by changing their projectile. They also seem to fire more frequently, which is nice.

All of the basic units now have working names and descriptions! Yay!

Will work on changing Freezards to be a unit with a high charge, and a decent missile attack, and that's mostly it.

    May post screenshots tomorrow.

The OP has been updated with information pertaining for the Piratians.

I am unsure what the plans are for Skipper, the ancient robot with the boat in Skyward Sword. I might include him as either a hero unit or as a type of navigator unit.
