According to GameFaqs, the European release date of both Medieval 2: Total War and Medieval 2: Total War - Collectors edition has been moved to 10.11.06!!! That is a week's improvement, and 4 days before USA!!!

I preordered my collectors edition yesterday, gonna cancel it if it shows up in stores before I get the preordered one... (Preordered from a local gamestore)

I didn't preorder it, because from my experience it gives you not that much of advantage, so it's good news indeed.

10th + 3 weeks for Royal Mail to figure out where the hell my mail is being forwarded to... I should be ready to go by december... lovely.

I pre-ordered the game on sendit.com, and the final cost is under 30€...That is quite good as an advantage

Most Games comes out on Friday as that was pay day and in some jobs is still today

I thought about something. Lately a lot of games release a pach the day its in stores.
That is a good way of using the time it takes manufacturing and shipping the DVDs for developement.
I guess this will also happen with M2TW.

Then why not sell the games beta version long before the game is released.
It will of cause be buggy and not work for most players. But modders could have an early look on it.

And on the final release day you only download a patch that contains the changes that make the game Gold.

Some smaller games companies do this (Mount & Blade come to mind) as a way of paying for the development of a game while it is still being made.

But larger ones wouldn't do this because people would buy the game, it would suck or not be playable, and they would never buy games in that series again, and wouldn't reccomend them to thier friends.

Or just shipping or just download.

A game in a store ought to be ready. (Even when they are way too often not.)
