Default [Official Submod] Limited Recruitment - Updated w/ Steam version

    Submod: DeI Limited Recruitment

Steam Link: Limited Recruitment Submod on Steam

This is a submod based on yukishiro's Historcally Plausible Development Minimod

It limits recruitment based on region ownership in a given province (1 region owned = 1 recruitment slot). All factions also have a bonus 1 recruitment point in their home provinces (Nomads get 2). Rome gets 2 slots from any major city it owns. All fort variants of major cities for all factions also give 2 slots.

The player gets a +2 recruitment bonus on Easy and +1 on Normal. The AI gets a +1 on Very Hard and + 2 on Legendary.

Please let me know how this plays and, if possible, leave specific feedback. I am especially interested in how the AI expands and if it limits them too much. Also, how much harder it is for the player starting as a single region faction. Please also list the difficulty you are playing on with any feedback.

First of all, i kinda love this, i mean you need 19 turns to build an army so you should be extra careful when attacking and everything else. Anyway, athens still got larissa without me as Sparta even moving, it just took them more time, they dont seem limited in any way, just slows them down a lot, and a player a lot. Maybe you should put a 2 recruitment slots version and we can test it out and see if its better or not. One sentence can describe this mod : Slows down the pace of steamrolling the AI and AI steamrolling other AI. Just played one quick campaing, will give it a more detailed look later when i have more time.

I used to love Yukishiro's mod quite a bit so seeing this come up is good news! gonna give this a test.

So in the mod manager, this mod should be above the main DeI? It doesn't seem to work as I can recruit around 6 units in a turn as Rome, and about 30 turns in the Suebi have reached Northern Italy.

I think the income increase for rome is too much, I'm making 8000+ a turn around turn 17. Maybe just reducing it back to the standard value.

I think you forgot to add the +1 recruitment slot in home provinces to pontus. They start with 2 regions hand have 2 slots! should be 3

Thanks for making this submod, i love the idea of this system

Woops, looks like I messed up the faction effects. Redownload the mod for the fixed version. All factions should be able to recruit region # + 1 in their homes now.

@Falco Yes, if you own 4 regions in a province and its your home region you will get to recruit 5. Rome has an added +1 for their major cities. This may need to be balanced (I wanted to represent Rome's ability to recruit heavily).

@Anonter Yes, the income bonus unfortunately makes it easier for the player. I will probably drop it but I wanted to see if it helped AI Rome at all.

Brilliant! Just used the first version and although it was bugged (Athens did not have +1 in their home province) it does drastically slow the game down to help achieve the feeling of immersion! Downloading the new version now and hoping for the best :3

This is just amazing with the Conquest PO nightmare mod, playing as Romani, never again see, Liguria take half the Mediterranean, lowly factions fear you, yet there garisons can inflict quite a blow on your legions, so don't expect to steam roll the AI. When you encounter a major faction, expect a long war in which your outer provinces get raided, this is good, in the previous version, however, your entire nation when vulnerable would get steam rolled by the minor factions, now you can direct most of your legions to your main enemy.

The Punic wars began, instead of it ending at 250 BC because Syracuse has taken all of Carthage territories, for once, Syracuse has been toned down, instead of destroying Carthage, by 260 BC, it has united Sicily, instead of the whole western Mediterranean!

Without the Conquest PO nightmare mod, this mod makes the game quite easy, so i would suggest putting both in the main build I would also suggest the Ultionem Carthage mod

    Conquest PO nightmare mod
    Ultionem Carthage

    Positive Feedback,

The bonuses make campaign a little easy, even on hard...

+1 Dresden, you certainly produce the quality of an entire city's worth of modding!

Going to start testing it on a Rome campaign right now, but could you please tell me how to reduce the initial income or just edit it back to default, please?

If you have PFM, open up the submod and delete the line in the effects_bundles table that gives the subsistence bonus to the Roman faction trait.

It removes 1500 extra income from the Romans (or Carthage if you delete that line).

That's amazing, now you can recreate the punic wars, for me Syracuse just took all of Sicily

Not sure if I have this installed properly, playing on hard campaign and as I start the campaign as Rome I'm able to recruit 6 units into my army next to Rome itself. Is this correct? I would have thought that's too many slot with the mod working? Or am I wrong?

The mod does appear on the mod manager and I have it ticked.

I installed the "___a_DeI_Recruit_submod.pack" file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II\data. There is no PNG image file with it like the other DEI .pack files

    Any help would be appreciated

You installed it, and its working. The thing is Rome has 6 slots for recruitment, to reflect their ability to recruit fast in ancient times and because they have a full province, thats 4 recruitment slots for 4 regions, and 1 more for Capitol and i think last one is from controlling the province or it is a purely Roman trait. So its working fine. In ancient times, you would not see for example little tribes south of Alps ( dont know if spelled right, mountainst to north of italy, south east france etc ) could not muster as large as an army as rome could. Play with Sparta or a faction with one starting city, that way you get 2 slots and makes it harder if you lose a battle!

This seems to do the trick for minor AI factions expanding too quickly; currently 30 turns into my campaign and Syracuse/Pontus etc are still in their initial locations; no expansion. Carthage is still strong; however I have noticed that it has an impact on other major factions such as Macedon. Although they own two regions to start, due to the different provinces they are limited to two units/turn and as such they have trouble expanding under AI.

Thanks for the reports, please continue to let me know how it does. I am considering including this in our 1.0 release.
