    Default Strange thing happened...

when sieging Syracuse after a long and bloody war Egypt aquired Syracuse as a client state. When I later destroyed Syracuse and subjugated them I got Egypt as a client state aswell? Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't see why you are complaining buy one get one free. Yeah but seriously if this is true, then it needs to be looked into.

Well, it's no secret that the diplomacy system is...questionable to say the least. Many inconsistencies had been found over this both in vanilla and with mods. I do hope CA will patch it (or at least make it moddable), and although this remains to be seen, they had been doing some interesting changes in the game based on the community feedback, so one can always hope =D

I had the same thing, although with a much smaller state; Epirus had conquered the Ariadei, after which I conquered Epirus (with Macedon), as it turned out I got both factions as client states after subjugation.

This isn't a bug; when you make a client state you also get all the client states of that faction as your clients too (if you're the overlord of Epirus, and Epirus was the overlord of the Ardiaei, it makes sense that you take over as the new overlord).

But if what the OP says is true, what he experiences could be a bug. Unless he was mixing it up? If Egypt was a client state of Syracuse, then what happened makes sense, but if it's the other way around as he says, that sounds like a bug.

Also... Egypt makes satrapies, not client states. It's not a big difference, but it's important. Diplomacy works differently with them. In the last campaign I played (DeI v0.9), Egypt still had Cyprus as their satrapy, and I made Egypt a client state - but I did not get Cyprus as a client state (they remained Egypt's satrapy).

If you subjugate a state owning client states these should go independent and not automatically go over to a new overlord its ridiculous.

Can understand the confusion. When on the last turn of besieging Syracuse's last settlement, Egypt made a client state/Satrapy of Syracuse. When clicking end turn syracuse surrendered to me and I chose to subjugate them. This in turn gave me Egypt as a client state...

After this I added the Vassal submod for DEI and now, every subjugation means Vassalisation.
