    Icon4 Naval issue: Unit Replenishment

I suggest that the replenishment for naval units should be the same as for land units. its about soldiers, make it at least when the navy is in port the replenishment is the same as the land units rate. because it makes no sense that they recruit (example values) 13 soldiers per turn docked, while my army soldiers have a rate of 45 per turn. on sea its okay that they have a high replenishrate (even though it would be better if it wouldnt be possible to replenish on open sea. If it is easily done by the devs do it like this (no commanding, just suggesting):

    - on sea, naval units dont have replenishment
    - docked, naval units have the normal replenishment for armies

my reasoning behind this is: i asked myself when i wanted to use my naval fleet to conquer a city "it takes ages for them to replenish, that sucks. i might just take an army. the fleets are more expensive anyway..." this mindset shouldnt exist!

    - the naval units have less soldiers
    - the naval units have a much higher upkeep (thats good, because of the ship they have to maintain, but that is no reason to cut the replenishment rate)

in fact, there is no reason at all to have a replenishment nerf for them.

also some soldiers in the naval units have no shield texture and look like mob units even though they are veteran legionaries. that must be fixed i guess.

I think this is a vanilla issue as navies replenish very slow compared to armies. We have barely touched naval replenishment, but army replenishment we have heavily nerfed. Yet somehow navies still replenish slower.

Which file is it? Ill change it.

Should also look into decreasing the attrition penalty.

Side note: I think it would be neat if Allied naval forces could replenish within friendly waters. The Western Mediterranean in my game looks like a decaying Greek shipyard because their fleets suffer attrition trying to assist me in my campaigns but can't recuperate despite being in the my completely controlled waters. Happens to both military allies and client states.

thats true. but the AI is so stupid they go into attrition areas on sea and lose so many men that (when they are the enemy) are no threat to even the smallest settlement they might want to attack. at least the replenishment should be higher, no reason not to do that

Replenishment won't affect attrition. If a unit goes into attrition that is a separate mechanic.

The replenishment values are in the campaign variables. The attrition values are their own table (can't remember the name offhand).

Here you go OP. Doubled replenishment rates. Let me know if it needs more tweaking.

Add the file to your data folder as you would any mod.

Not really, adding mods in top of mods is a casual thing around here
