    Default non-calvery mercenary generals possible?

Throughout history, there have been mercenary units that were truely elite, led by charismatic leaders of various backrounds, from pauper to noble, bandit to ex gladiators, who specialize in various areas of warfare.

is it possible to simulate this using the mercenary system in RTW? hireable Archer, Gladiator, spearband etc mercenaries who have a non-mounted "general" with them?- replenisment time would obviously need to be long, when the general himself dies the unit disbanding would acctually make sense, as it usually is thier charisma keeping it together, even the slow increase in number of troops/regeneration of troops would also make sense as troops are replaced etc.

Sorry, but I suspect this isn't possible, mercenaries aren't regarded as one of the 21 allowable factions and I think that only those factions can normally generate leaders.

If you want to experiment you could try giving some of the mercenary_unit 's in EDU the general_unit attribute and see what happens...
