Default Armies in Cities cause Unhappiness ? O.o

    Hello everyone again,

Sorry, Im a bit dense this days , but I just started with this mod, and its amazing, but hard to master, at least at first (?

I noticed, that Having Armies in the cities causes the Public Order to fall.

Is that correct?, I always thought it was the opposite.

My cities were happy, most of them, a few turns later everyone was on -20. O.o

I have enough food I think, around 20.

But what worried me the most was that the Predicted Public Order was even lower, around -30

Just by chance I moved my Army away, and I saw that the Predicted Public Order was +4.

    O.o

Im lost, completely. Is it working fine?

And something else.. Whenever I exempt a city from Taxation my Food levels drop drastically, one time from 11 to 2.
I read somewhere that Exempt taxation was a good way to increase population in a city. So I got a bit confused.

    Thanks again

With the new version of DeI armies in cities cause a drop in public order but when conquering a province you will not see a very big decrease in public order as you did before. This means that building temples and such is much more important than before. Also the corruption have been increased to make the late game a bit more difficult so using governors (dignitaries) and the edicts to increase public order or income is much more cruciel.
Read the thread "Hints and Tips" to learn how to deal with these new implementations with DeI

    Thanks Iltedge,

Im a bit paranoid, cause I had a issue with the mod yesterday, and it was possible that it was due to a broken install, so Im kind of seeing ghosts of bad Installement everywhere, hahaha

Fortunately it seems that the issue I had yesterday was just a minor ocasional problem

    Thanks for your answers

Everything you are experiencing is working as intended. It's part of 0.95 changes.

Exemp taxation make you gain public order, but lose income and food from the region.

    Awesome, thanks Flash

Will check that thread, Im completely lost, but amazed at the same time, I haven't had a challenge like this one in a Total War game, since years.

Also, make sure you change your battle difficulty to Normal (you can do that after you start a campaign in the options menu). Anything above that causes mass bonuses for the AI and balance issues.

Some people like the higher difficulties but just starting out its probably best to experience the battles on Normal.

No probs Zek. Always here to help a fellow World Dominater in need
It wont take you long to get a feel on how to proper deal with these effects. Took me about 10 turns to turn things around when I updated to the newest version of DeI. Went from +4000 and down to -2000 income.

I am trying to balance the system so that in your home/core regions the cities are fine without the need to overbuild temples. You will probably need temples/dignitaries and other effects to convert new areas to your culture, but hopefully over time those areas will also be able to exist without an army and without too many temples. If that is not the case, let me know. I don't want the player to be forced to have a temple in every region for areas that are overwhelmingly your culture.

I have had no trouble yet with the public order. I need temples at first to convert to my religion and perhaps have a forum to further increase the public order but after some turns I can just leave the province unattended

I have no problem to built 2-3 temples in a new province and demolish them later on.

Excuse me if I appear to be a bit dumb. When I recruit Governors and have them deployed in a province do I have to hit the deploy button at every turn or do I only need to do this once when I have them deployed in the province I want

You should be able to deploy them once and they stay that way.

I experience in all campaigns that at some point (havent tested why) they de-deploy by themselves and you have to push the deploy button again. I can see an increase in my income when doing so.

I have noticed that as well hence the reason for my inquiry. I also noticed sometimes that the projected income decreased by a fraction with some governers when I re-deploy

Yep that used to happen when R2 came out with a level up, once you picked the skill they would have to be deployed again. Have to say I personally have yet to see it lately but that is just little me.

Does the AI also obey to this rule of armies in cities?
If yes, this is a disadvantage for them as they always place the army inside the city

This makes governors a bit pointless or even a detriment, doesn't it?

Not exactly, if you want to tax that region, you will need to convert them to your culture.

By the way, how on earth do we exempt a single region from tax? I thought this was only an option in old games.

If by region you mean province then you do it by clicking any city/town in the province, pressing the details button from the tab that appears at the bottom of the screen and then hitting the exempt region from tax button in the top left of the box which appears detailing the finances of the province.

If by region you literally like single town then as far as I know you can't.
