How did the do it? How do I do it?
In one of the previews, it shows what appears to be a crusade battle. well, getting right down to it, the person playing in the video selects his cavalry and orders them to attack while at the same time, the unit arrows appear and he tells the cavalry to swing around to face the enemy so that their formation changes and they face the unit they are attacking head on.
how do you do this? is this specific to M2TW, or have i been missing it the whole time?

okay, in a video, it is seen while a battle is taking place that a unit of cavalry is issued an order to attack a formation of troops. the cavalry are on a flank and charge forward to go around. so, instead of having them charge and make contact with the enemy formation from the side, the person controlling the battle has them rotate their formation (the formation of the cavalry. you know, when you use the little carrot buttons and the arrows representing individual units, plus the arrow representing the direction being face appears) and has the cavalry unit charge into the rear of the infantry so that the troops are facing the infantry directly instead of diagonally as the flanking maneuvre would have them.
any clearer?

I think I know what your talking about, I've seen that video. I'm pretty sure all he did was telll them to attack, then told right clicked and held so instead of charging, they lined up where he told them too. That's nothing new.

are you saying, he told them to attack and it automatically went into a formation then charged?
its kinda hard to tell what you're tryin to say
Edit: Oh, if thats what you mean then no, its new. Enless i've been missing a few things since medieval 1.

ive seen that video, i hated the way the guy was playing though, when he ordered his cavalry to move out in multiple units i dont think he did anything special im guessing it just appeared that way from where we're watching him do it from.

you can do it in rome total war. i often do it by accident, but never bothered to actually figure out which buttons i was pushing
