Default Just me, or did the Ptolmeaic army at Raphia get buffed?

Playing 2.6 now... Raphia pre-battle and just noticed my Seleucid army has no upgrades and the Ptolmeiac army has gold/silver + chevrons.

Is this working as intended, or did I do something wrong with my install?

    Thanks

I think that's intended to give the player a challenge , but when you play Rome Hannibal's army is also buffed (yours isn't) and i presume that it's the same for the Ptolemaic army as well

A feature of the factional campaigns.

So yeah, Rome gets more when you play as Carthage... (though it's still fun to take Rome on turn 2 or something)

I have no real trouble winning... it's a little tougher, sure, but gold and silver at the campaign start? I've never seen Hannibal's army with more than bronze + chevrons. I guess someone just wants the Ptomeiac guys to win Raphia.

RSII has a fairly standard +3 Exp boost to the AI units. As soon as the AI has built Large Foundaries -then it's +5 (2 Silver). This is one reason why the Hard (+4) and Very Hard (+7) become a bit distorting.

Never not be strangling Rome to death on Very Hard battle difficulty as soon as you can land a stack on them.

(They still can't handle Greek Levy Pikemen, heh... pila, scutum, gladius doesn't help as much as they wish it did. Too bad for them they're totally unable to adapt, since AI.)

Really though, Turn2 Exterminating Roma using Hannibal is the fastest you can do it I think. And Roma isn't special (in the manner of treasury city), all Italian settlements give the Rome AI the same tax income bonus, so it's better to start from an edge and murder your way using forts and such to block their magical spawn stacks.

In real life the Ptolemies won the Battle of Raphia so maybe is intended.

Goodness! We can't have an 'authentic' experience for the player, surely! Players have to win, don't they?

    Thanks for my Wednesday chuckle.
