Default Difference between BI and RTW.exe?

What is the difference between BI and RTW exe gameplay wise? any noticeable differences between them? also is there any way to change the exe without using the submod?

With BI.exe you get naval invasions. Except they're rubbish, usually involving pathetic stacks of 2-5 units which are no threat, but happen with enough regularity to be annoying.

I see. Is it true that the AI is somewhat smarter on land or its pretty much the same?

For me BIexe is much more stable than RTWexe. Almost no CTDs. Off course EB is installed outside of C: program files.

I have BI and EB 1.2 but I never get any naval invasion whatsoever! I even halved ship training and upkeep costs by 4 times to make it feasible for AI to invade me through the sea, but no invasion whatsoever. The only time I remember being invaded by sea is Ptolemies invading Rhodes, but that's it. Is there anything special that I should do while installing EB for BI to take effect or is it already in effect?

I have only the old RomeTW.exe from the original game with EB 1.2 and I saw the Carthaginian AI reinforce Sicily with troops from both Africa, Balearic islands and Sardinia. But never saw them attack Italy. This was on VH campaign level, they build some boats at least, but on this level some other smaller factions are way more dangerous because they have incredible amounts of troops, and Carthage is very easy to beat compared to those in Greece. At least if you play Romani.
