The gist: While China declassified homosexuality as a mental illness a decade ago, there are a lot of clinics offering to cure homosexuality. The methods can be quite... jarring.
"One common method is electric shock. When the patient has a gay thought, we
electrocute them or inject them with drugs that make them sick," he said. "

and the Chinese gay community, tries to fight back:
"China's gay community has begun to fight back. They've organised a
number of protests - small in number but nonetheless brave in China.
Video footage of one demonstration shows activists holding up a
protest banner at a Beijing medical conference. "Being gay is not an illness,"
it reads. "

While I'm mildly against gay marriage, I never the less, am strongly against electrocuting someone over gay thoughts, or other forms of brain washing.

They try to use a procedure similar to dog taming in order to prevent a patient from homosexual behaviour?
I doubt that this is very successful, however i do think that it can be a disguise for quackery to rob someone's wealth (very long and expensive therapy)

Yes it is a "pavlovian" therapy, no doubt, and it has been in place for decades, in the western world. Obviously it is a farse, the practise was discontinued in the civilized western countries. Not saying you wont find an Odd ball here in there. In the 50s, the practise was legal, and comon for curing homosexuality... with no big results, but it didnt stoped married man, from trying in secret.
I also think everyone should be alowed to marry who ever they love, and chose.

Except obviously consent has to be involved. Traditional marriage where women were/are treated as chattel is obviously antiquated.

You don't think consent is an essential component to a loving relationship? I think you may have mis-read my post, all I pointed out was that your post omitted the essential component of consent, I believed it was accidental, was a incorrect in that assumption?

There is love without consent? i dont think so.
I think my original post is implied, thats why i didnt mentioned... but yes obviously mutual consent is part of loving someone and marriage. Or it should be.

otherwise there wouldn't be such things as broken heart syndrome or hate-love relationships

The Chinese govt is to be congratulated for allowing the court challenge to the 'clinics' to go ahead. I think they are moving in the opposite direction of fellow former-Communist nation Russia on gay rights. There are even NPC members who campaign for gay rights.

"Travesty" and "reprehensible" fit the parameters of "something", yes.

Let's pretend for a second that homosexuality is a deliberate, chosen behavior, not an inborn trait. I don't believe that for a second, based on the overwhelming preponderance of the evidence, but let's just pretend for the sake of argument. Application of electroshock for a victimless "behavioral deviation" would still rank quite high on the "atrocity against human rights and dignity" scale.
