Default who would want a mod based on...

the prehistoric era, sounds silly but i think it would be really freaking cool to make like ancient tribesmen during the ice age with clubs and early axes and sticks fighting over food, and cities would be small villages, resource turned into food and clothing(animals), and make it global and different time periods showing the migrations of how like all the people got to where they were after the ice age?

Hmm, it dosent sound too interesting to be honest. Armies would be a few hundred at the most, very unorganised (just men running aroun with clubs), it wouldnt work well with the RTW engine.

lol i was talking about on the mtw2 engine, im not going to start a mod but maybe someone else will, your right even with mtw2 engine a bunch of hairy men with clubs running around wrestling on the ground would be funny, but you know a global campaign would be kinda cool.

But the time period doesn't seem that interesting. Like Shaun said, the "armies" would be very small, and we don't really know too much about that period anyway...

Maybe if you include technological developement by "marius like" reforms as factions power grows and civilise to go to an age related to early antiquity this could be intresting. The first thing would be to survive with your tribe, submit others and then develop, become a civilisation and create an empire.

I think it would be fun - I always liked the clubmen battles in AoE1 and there's a great club and spear fighting java game more recently called Tribal Trouble - but I agree it would be hard to do and probably lose its appeal after a while.

it would probaly be cool, plus you could really go in depth with all the dinosaurs and stuff(like at first they would be from one prehistoric age, then they would get upgraded to having like riders and cavemen having arrows and spears.)

It'd be cool to have the "Rebel" armies as being the saber-tooth tigers and ancient elephants (i forget the name....) and settlements have no walls so they just attack... killing the townsfolk...

While I agree that it would be unbelievably awesome to have war-smilodons and epic inter-species battles between sapiens and neanderthals, we know too little about the period geo-politcally for anything but conjecture and fantasy to be implemented. Thus pre-historic.

EDIT: Also, societies were family and tribe based. The idea of a nation or faction with any cohesion, conscription, or tactics hadnt emerged yet.

lol you'd also be overlooking the fact that dinosaurs and humans have a few million years inbetween them and never came close to existing together. That of course is only if you're concerned with realism.

prehistoric is not the dinasaur age...prehistoric means before written history which as the official sources believe it to be was 5000 bc i think... so i dont know where you imply me saying this would be with dinasaurs.

This mod idea is excellent for those that have crappy computers. I mean you would probably have Towns getting no larger than 2000 and armies would be a few hundred in size at MOST. That would be totally lag free. And just clubs and sticks, no horse or cannons or large settlements. That's even more lag free.

    Good idea.... for crap computers.

well i dont think this would be battle oriented, more like a historical campaign that could last thousands of years say maybe 750000bc-8000bc, 750000 because that was when man first discovered fire(according to a 1980s encyclopedia lol) and 8000 bc because that was the end of the ice age accordingly, and yes the battles perhaps wouldnt even contain 100 men, more like 15-40 or so.

    Oh, it isn't?

What did you have in mind then? ANOTHER realism mod?

I think it would be fantastic fun, only put some dinosaurs in the mix. People need to lighten up and have fun once and a while, realism mods get booooring.

Blue Lotus was one of the best RTW mods imo.
