Default A Question About Version 0.95

    Hello guys,

I'm going to start a new campaign and I don't know which version of Rome 2 would be better for the new update. The reason for that is that as the patch 14 is still in beta, I thought it might have some compatibility issues or bugs. So, my question is, Patch 13 or 14? Also, if I started the campaign with Patch 13, would it be possible to switch to 14 (or the opposite) without any issues whatsoever?

    Thanks in advance

Well men, Patch 14 break up some formations so you should stick to the patch 13 atleast for the moment

Yes, 0.95 should be compatible with both patches. I have heard good things about the siege AI in beta 14 so it might be worth playing. Either way switching back and forth should not cause a problem.

There is one bug that 14 introduced that forced us to change some of our formations in 0.95. However, since we made those changes it shouldn't be an issue now.

If you play 0.9 then I would stay with 13.

I also have a quick question about 0.95, and that is with the reforms by the look of it. When I took a look into the technology tree for organization for military, I noticed that beside the double plank construction(?) that there is a new tech that appears to manually upgrade the units. My question is what does this actually do, does it go for the AoR mercs, or is it for everything?

about 8 AoR units and many of your factions units will be upgradable as soon as you reach the next reform.

One more question, is there a way to use the old strategic view theme instead of the new one?

You have to research that tech if you want to be able to upgrade your units between reform tiers. Basically, always research it.

If you are referring to the campaign map, we prefer the new one's style and art direction. However, if you want the vanilla version you can delete the campaign_maps content in the pack.

Thanks for the info Dresden, and just to clarify, I am talking about the faction based units like Hastati, Principies, and the Trairii. So, one person said through the Imperium, and you say through the tech, so a mixture of both? My main reasoning is because pre-patch 0.95, all the Camillian units seemed to be useless until upgraded to their Polybian style troops.

First, you have to hit the reform tier. This is based on turn number and Imperium. After hitting the reform tier, you can then upgrade existing pre-reform units if you research the tech. For example, if you have Camillan Hastati and reach the Polybian reforms, in 0.9 you had to recruit new Polybian Hastati. Now, you can choose to research the tech and upgrade your already-existing Hastati.
