    Default New Steam Update for Med2 + Kingdoms DLC messing up the mod

    Just wanted to report this since im not seeing anything related but apparently, absurd as it may sound, GameSpy closed their servers for multilayer on Rome Total War and Medieval Total War along with Kingdoms but CA, just fallowing i think, gave an update as so the multilayer servers for both the Med Total war and Kingdoms players can continue online play via Steam Network. However, this caused quite a problem. The update apparently mashed the DLC and Med Total war together as a single exe and its preventing the mod to even launch, this is done by its error saying: 'Could not find Kingdomsexe.' Though the update appears to be quite recent and not so noticed yet, its preventing any paths for the mod to start up. More info can be found here:

    I tried the idea from someone to create the mod in the Americas campaign in the Kingdoms DLC but this didn't get anywhere either. it made me come to the conclusion that this should be reported and notified by the devs of this modification.

    Stainless Steel is an EPIC mod for the medieval 2 total war game but, of course, leave it to CA to screw it up in the long run. (as if Rome 2 wasn't enough of a disaster) But i have high hopes the Devs can at least make a new version so that the mod can adapt to the update, and to see it die out because of this update is, personally, kind of heartbreaking since it really gave off more of a 'Medieval Times' feel, which the Vanilla failed to deliver.

    Works for me too, but if i want to play a battle by myself the error "Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit." appears. Any help ?

    Nevermind, reinstalled the whole game and the mod, works fine now.

    I did the copy fix and it worked, but unfortunately Steam updated(even though I set it not to update) while I had my folders renamed. Now I've got a weird hybrid game with Stainless Steel traits, different voices, different music and New World trade resources in Europe. Also game crashes when entering battle. Also when I exit from title screen, the confirmation button looks weird, like my desktop is bleeding through it. Ugh, now I tried reinstalling the whole thing and it's right back to saying unable to locate kingdoms.exe. Now I'm getting "not enough campaigns or files missing". So Steam, get AIDS and die slow. Hadn't played this game in awhile now I'll never be able to again.

    ...and this is what I'm most concerned about with using four ways to make mods work with Steam crippled M2TW Patch Hell. It's going to be a complete troubleshooting mess.

    Ok, the system log is being helpful. It's not recognizing horses that aren't listed here; http://medieval2.heavengames.com/m2t...de/index.shtml. Unfortunately I can't find export_descr_mount.txt, which may be a problem in itself. BUT I'm using the same installer I used months ago and actually managed to play, so still Steam's fault. After editing all the horse errors, now I get this;

    [error] Script Error in mods/SS 6.3/data/export_descr_unit.txt, at line 2470, column 25
    stat_pri statistic refers to non-existant projectile type 'quality_pistol_bullet'

    Trying that, I forget though which folder is the right one for mods, Sega/Medieval 2 or Steam/Medieval 2?

    Now I can get it to the SS splash screen with the crusader holding up his sword but it crashes with no popup or reason why.

    Ok, apparently I was using a bad exe to install 6.3. Now I've got it working, the HRE has German accents and calls me Kaiser again, but there's still tobacco in their territory. Haven't tried battle yet. Battle with rebels didn't crash the game, need to try a siege.
