The Infamous River Zora Crash - Workaround?
Hi there.
I've been playing HTW 3.6 for a while, and I've been hit by the infamous River Zora crash even after Community Patch 2, which featured the possible fix that divided the event into several attacks over time. However, this hasn't happened in each try (right now, I'm on a tie: my Kokiri Campaign went beyond Turn 15 whereas my Lanayru Campaign didn't). Still, the conclusion drawn is that the fix is not 100% valid. I would like to suggest a possible workaround for this crash, while a proper fix is found (if there is any).
My point is that the greatest issue with the crash is that it happens on turn 15-16, when the Campaign is already getting interesting. I suggest moving the first invasion event to an early turn; say 4 or 5. By doing so, I've had no crashes in 4 different tries, both starting fresh and loading from a save. I guess it'll have something to do with having less armies to move on the field... but that's just a wild guess. Anyway, in the event of a CTD, the damage done is minimal, since the player has only played four turns and hasn't done anything important yet.
I know this might bring up balancing issues, as the event is thought out for a full-developed situation, but this could be solved by giving the River Zora less armies in the first wave and delaying the rest to further turns (i.e turn 20 or 30).
Just my two cents on the matter. I'd appreciate to hear your opinion about it.
