Can't access launcher preferences

Hello,

Well, I'm a Steam user trying to use the Alexander.exe and I can't open my launcher preferences - I get the same error > > > unable to open file C

rogram Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Alexander\preferences\preferences.txt". < < < with both 2.5 and 2.6. I can log in and play with the Alexander.exe ... but clearly, not being able to edit the preferences is very annoying.

Note: I can run 2.5 and 2.6 perfectly and open preferences when using my Rome Total War:Gold (vanilla+BI exe) which is in a separate folder, since Alexander is standalone.

Any ideas why preferences returns this error?

Yeah, I'm having the exact same problem after having installed it for the second time this morning (apparently it's bad to install it on the desktop so I put it into C:\Games as the guide suggests)

EDIT: I just tried installing it again and once again the launcher won't allow me to change the preferences (admin rights, followed the install instructions verbatim)

You probably need to find where the RS2 file is and click preferences and change the permission to use it.

no that's not working for me,even reinstalling RS2 don't have any effect.
i can still change them manualy in the preference folder.but not on the launcher

It's hard to find the information... but if you want to play Roma Surrectum with Alex.exe on Steam, you'll need to actually paste your Alexander.exe and all the files into your Rome Total War: Gold and merge completely - only then can you install 2.5 and 2.6 ontop of it. Your Preferences will work after that.

Since installing that way, I have had no real issues. I did get a crash, something about generic_error_failedtofindtexture/data/models/residences/textures/Prometheus_Greek_cities.tga , but after replaying a battle, I didn't get it again and continued playing.

i don't play alex and don't have it on steam.so thats not the problem.i just can't open the preferences in the launcher.
i have asked the same question in the 2.6problems thread.did get answer that it's my pc but thats not it.
i had to uninstall rs2 to have a new clear copy of rome, but before that i had no problem accessing the preference on the launcher.

it's not a big problem.maybe it's the download that is corrupted?
