Default Cav very slow moving, unit responsiveness decreased by alot.. how come??

In my stainless steel experiences, the units were very slow moving no matter if they were light, heavy or whatever, and the cavalry NEVER gets it's charge right, even when giving them a loong run, so could someone explain to me if this is part of the mod or is it a bug

Its a part of vanilla as well, the best way to cav charge imo is to line them up a bit away from the enemy(but not too far) then issue the move fast command and right before they get to that location THEN double tap to charge them, this will only work if you are micro managing each cav unit but I find it is by far the most effective.

It does seem to me that SS units are slower than vanilla... Am I just crazy?

There are others factors beside armour that have influence on speed, such as terrain and stamina. I never played vanilla much, but i guess most of those realistic features were simply missing.

If you form a straight line to the unit you want to charge with some distance you should not have any troubles, just don't let them run form the beginning. Order them to attack and let them move slowly towards their enemy for a few seconds and the let them run (like in some movies ). Otherwise they will mess up their formation and only a few horses will charge while the other ones moving far behind them.

long runs don't help charges...stamina matters. I'd recommend also aiming behind who your attacking to hold formation deeper into the opponent.

I think slower moving units was an intentional decision. One of the long term weaknesses of Medieval II turned out to be the sluggish unit response time, which made cavalry so absurdly OP that rules limit its use in vanilla multiplayer. (They will maneuver behind units and charge long before they can about-face and brace for the charge.) Slower movement speed at least alleviates this somewhat. If you dont like it, you could always just play at 2x speed instead.
