armor not upgraded

hi,

the problem i'm seeing is that armor is not being upgraded. i'm playing dale, and i've produced its standard spearman with a blacksmith resident at Dale captal, and the result is that its armor rating is 3, the same it produced with a leather-armor smith.

when i installed the game, i installed the programs two parts, but didn't apply patch 3.1 (which although listed, isn't available at the download site (says deleted), but i did install patch 3.2.

any help is appreciated.

p.s. i installed TA and i am greatly impressed, overall. for the 1st time, the AI of TW has challenged me on the battlefield set at highest difficulty, and so thank you.
