Ok, here's what I did: I unisntalled M2, and deleted the Medieval 2 folder from steam. Then I reinstalled it, I reinstalled the mods (in my case TATW+DAC). To launch the mods I have made two options: 1) I created a shortcut to the (new) medieval2.exe and added the command to launch a mod ( --features.mod=mods/Third_Age_3 ) to the "target" line in the shortcut properties. Using this shortcut launches DaC without problems. This used to be one of the popular ways to launch mods 2) I edited the .bat file included with TATW, changing kingdoms.exe to medieval2.exe and now I can launch the mod with it. Everything works fine.

Edit: There is only one problem, which is also present in the vanilla games, some sound effects (mainly in the menus) don't trigger, I've seen on the official forums that this has been reported and CA is aware of it, so it should be fixed soon.
There are no sound issues with the method mentioned in my post ( the link to that fellow's solution, post # 161 ). Apparently, CA are trying to fix this too.

Sons of *******, leave that poor, war torn country in peace.
If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.

That one works perfectly too, thanks. And I actually made a mistake, the audio problem is only in the vanilla game and expansions, mods work perfectly, they probably messed up their own sound files somehow

You don't have to uninstall and re-install I did it this way works great!

First navigate to :C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods

Change back the folder with the Third age files to the name "Third_Age_3"
Then go into that folder and Right click edit the Third Age Batch file and replace "Kingdoms.exe" with "medieval2.exe"

Then open up the steam menu right click Medieval 2 in your game Library and go to properties Then select SET LAUNCH OPTIONS and paste in
"--features.mod=mods/Third_Age_3" Then Launch Medieval 2 and the mod will be loading...

PS: to play normal Medieval 2 you will have to go back and delete the
"--features.mod=mods/Third_Age_3" in the SET LAUNCH OPTIONS

Honestly, CA can go shove their hands in meat grinders: their "patch" won't even download for me, so I can't even play a game that I paid for all because some people wanted multiplayer.....

    kingdoms launcher won't even install-.-

It says you need medieval 2 and kingdoms installed, and i got both... why do they always need to update something that worked fine!? (i know it was the MP)

    2) I edited the .bat file included with TATW, changing kingdoms.exe to medieval2.exe and now I can launch the mod with it. Everything works fine.
How would i go about doing this?

also added the "system.log" from my M2 folder, it seems like there is a lot of files missing, could this be the problem?
edit: I've tried the first thing you said also, i just CTD's once i get past the into video for the faction i chose(tried everyone)

    1. Probably legal issues...if steam is going to host a game on their site, they are probably bound by the developer (CA in this case) to update whenever an update is released...it is CA not steam I "think"....

    2. did you do a complete uninstall and clean all folders out of the steam\steamapps\common folder ? do you have steam in your program files folder of your drive ? i would think a registry clean would be necessary here but samuel seemed to do it without....not sure..make SURE you have cleaned everything out before re-installing..then just follow samuel's post above

    3. use notepad ++ to edit the file i think...check the other thread titled "ummm whats the update for".... http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...the-update-for

I have recommended to others also to redownload all the mod files if they are having problems after all this...it is POSSIBLE to get a corrupted download...if you redownload the files, then do not use your pc or the net while they download...just to be safe...maybe you already know this but i am just trying to think of ways to help...good luck !!!
