Went to try my hand at modifying the original batch files and make a 'All-In-One' version, and turned out pretty successful(Even managed to make the batch to automatically
fill in the mod directory path, instead of having to edit it the old way for every single mod)
(Need some Steam users to test it, but should be working)
Thank you good sir
Note that this is intended as an update to old, but nevertheless useful modStarter (as stated in my thread, like the old modStarter, it also 'auto' detects which command lines according to installed version to execute). If everything is working correctly, I'm going to see if I can turn it into an .exe (for cosmetic reasons)
Yep. And installers are frequently exes too. It's always smart to run a virus checker to ensure something else didn't get in the well intentioned exe.

Re the Steam sound patch update:
While this has worked for some, a lot of people are having trouble with the patch sticking i.e. halting in the midst of the download. So again, that gets into the known Steam issue of hanging up, and the total installation issue of M2TW, and only after doing a complete delete, including the registry entries. Otherwise, people can get stuck in an endless loop and can't get the patch to download. See past posts about doing an uninstall from programs in Windows control panel, and then following up with cclearner or IObit's Uninstaller (both are free programs).
Hang in there folks.
A modstarter.exe would be fine. It would be reading the mod's files and the game's folders to match them. It will not read the kingdoms/medieval2.exe or change it.
Oh, I meant some people get nervous when they see an exe, and think virus.
Steam's servers get overloaded and will hang especially on weekends.
Hi all,
A new hotfix has been issued to address the latency and dark shadow/stripes on building problems that were experienced since the multiplayer patch.
This hotfix is roughly 800Mb and should be downloaded/installed automatically via Steam.
The current build number is 345373, which can be check by doing a right click on Medieval 2 > Properties > Local Files…

It seems there is a new update going on...
Almost 1 gigabyte for dark shadow/stripes on building problems? I'm not computer expert but this sounds pretty big.
Hard work. Keep it up.
I had just finished 13 of 14GB for the initial download - it's all gone and is starting to download from scratch. That's the end of my attempt to find out what is wrong with the Steam version and do something to lessen the pain. Gonna stick with the disk version, much better for my sanity - with a connection that manages 1.5GB per day I am not going to do that to me again.
Do you see now my Friend why I switched to a regular non-Steam version? With all of the updates, and problems with updates, that's a huge amount of data transfer. It results in not really being able to use the Internet, having to spend too much time looking for solutions, and making not only M2TW unplayable, but your computer not as usable. One could just finish with a Steam patch as many have done, make one of the four changes, and then the new patch might take awhile and break your mods ultimately when it fails to download, and you begin with a totally new installation from Steam.
Thank you for trying, as I felt that was magnanimous.
What capablecenturion said is intelligent and wise. Since there would be peak downloading times due to sleep patterns, if one could switch to another server (gets into proxies), then maybe you'd get a faster download. I'm lucky as my download speed is fairly fast for a complete download, but not worth it in the final analysis.

My download speed is about the same Gigantus. I last had a speed of 0.7mbps.
I'm not joking.
That's why this situation is so frustrating to me. Having to do everything again is just so time consuming.
What about the localized text issues were those addressed as well?
