So when is this Patch out?
Can't seem to download the beta myself for some reason, the beta opt in won't open.
Remember, you need to activate it by going into the properties of Rome 2 and activating the patch 14 beta.

Dear customers,
With this new patch the game is now officialy on beta version !
Thank you to all the alpha testers since september 2013 who bought the early acces version.
Stay tuned for all the new beta DLC which will come soon. The final version (with improved features as politic system and civil war) should be launched in 2015.

that is why it is hard to be "happy" to have a patch which seems to fix a big issue 10 months after the released.
Yes it is cool to have a team which fix the problems of the game, even 10 month after the release. It show they are still woking on the game to make it better months after months. And maybe improvement of feature will happen next ?
BUT NO, it not acceptable to have a main part of the game (siege battle) with so much problems during 10 months and we don't have to say thank you to a company to repair their own product which was broken.
And naval battle need a lot of works too.
So better to think we all bought an early access game.![]()
This is only a short summary of my impressions of the siege AI as I have only just installed the game and the beta.
I ran 4 custom battles of an attack on walled Rome itself. I had 3 Towers, 2 ladders and 1 ram plus a few artillery I left in by mistake. I gave the AI plenty of extra troops. I had one general and some soldiers way back just to watch.
1. All 4 times the Towers made it to the walls. they manouevered very straight forwardly. When they got in the way of each other they didn`t go into some `I don`t know what to do-crash` routine, but cleanly sorted themselves out and moved on.
2. The soldiers came off very cleanly made it down the walls easily and marched straight for the centre. I could hardly believe how easy it was.
3. The arty ballistas fired at my missile towers effectively.
4. The waiting AI soldiers outside the walls immediately marched for the Towers boarded and got on the walls to enter the town. Again very cleanly.
Problems:
The ram, while it managed to break the gates failed to dislodge its men and enter the gate. It kept rolling about after it had broken the gate. I thought the nearby ladders were confusing it, but after I removed the ladders it still got stuck. however, it broke the gate every time.
Plus there was some framerate drops when the men entered the ladders enmasse.
Summary:
This is almost like watching Rome 1`s sieges now. ALMOST. But It seems to have a problem with the rams. I will test further.
Also I never saw a torch in sight.
Also this was a quick mission test. I will be testing properly in a real campaign so it will be a while before I give my definite judgement. But so far... better. Much better.
It is not acceptable. We should not have to wait nearly a year. It should have been released a year later, around now. I will not be suckered again. However, I give them a little kudos for sticking with it as they have actually been trying to fix siege; our complaining words were not totally useless.
This wasn't in the notes!
