My Fantasy Sci-Fi Novel, Neck of Ivory: Book I of The Shinoro

    The excerpt chapters are here:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...2#post13833132

The year is 736, seven centuries after the founding of Nemov, paramount metropolis of the Empire, and four thousand years after the founding of the Empire of Tarakia.

The War of the Jester’s Crown, a conflict of succession and secession, has ended, along with the conquest of the Harlequin Isles.
The Tenrya Alaia Minechira, the witch empress Imira, is ailing, having taken retreat to the catacombs of Varinal, where she mourns for the death of her lover, Beraekye Tresk, Ezom Baler, hero of the campaign in the Harlequin Isles and squire of the Masun Zeal.
Many fear the war will be repeated, as an illegitamate is heir. It is said that young Ziraga will soon abdicate to another of his mother’s line.
The war has resulted in a pyrrhic outcome. Gone are the Shinoro, the Masun Zeal, sworn protectors and archaeologists of the noble lineages and the natural order. Gone is emperor Kiirfan the White, called Kuda. Gone also, is Tre Ral, called Taro, champion of the rebellion in the Vesperine valleys and the Cradle, Ankania, and Kelmia and Tazov. Gone are the brothers Meriov.
And gone is the illusion of sanctity that has long persisted in Nemov, a city not pierced for a millennia, ravaged by the pretender Xoba’s coup, along with its empress.
The year is 736. The nobles and Centralists of great Aerador, Nemov, and Dora Heln send their scions to reconstruct the Kingdom of Maltaenia and Apriga, where the war began, now in civil strife.

    -AN ANGLO-SAXON TALE-

    BY: esaciar

My name is Stigweard Ruadhan of Hereteu and I am a Northumbrian. I am the son of Galenhćst and our family have been raised as Thegns to local Ealdormen for generations. As such our weregild – or our worth to our community; monetarily, militarily and socially – was as such a heavy price, though it paled into mere pittance in comparison with others in the kingdom. We were respected, but never feared. Love, but never honoured. Our bloodline was first among those who came last. We lived on the savage coast of Northumbria, our bluffs white with the crests of wild waves from the heaving grey seas beyond us.

We settled the lands of the ‘hćstapa’ or the ‘noble stags’ and they, along with our ancestors bore us great fortune. The gods still walk among those lands for we would make them a great home there. Though now, the gods hide in shadows and the Christ god fills the hearts and minds of men. We are a proud people, though there were little more than thirty of us within our village, we grew strong with that pride, we grew powerful and we made a many great and fearsome enemies.

But my story does not begin there. It begins many long years back – when the skies thundered above us and the ground shook below us.

My story begins with an end. It begins with death.

    Default MCWC VI - Submissions

    By HunterKYA

The continued adventures of Braedan and his crew of mercenaries, as they attempt to avoid the prying eyes and grasp of the Alliance. Since we last left off, the crew of the Centurion has ventured to Xeltana, homeworld of the Xelanite Dominion, one of the most advanced and widespread civilizations in the known galaxy. It is there he and his crew seek sanctuary and protection, and the person whom Braedan turns to for aid is an old acquaintance, a Courtesan named Edhen, a woman who had no love lost the last she saw him. Just when the pair has rekindled their past, all is shattered when the Alliance makes a daring raid to recover the artifact Braedan had stolen from them months before.

With an Alliance spec ops group launching a strike on one of the single greatest powers in the galaxy, the mercenary must rectify his mistake of leading them to Xeltana. The toll on Braedan is more than he could imagine, pushing him to the brink of death's door. What had been a simple raid on Balian, has escalated beyond his or anyone's comprehension, and now, conflict seems inevitable. A mercenary who might have started a galactic war -- that'll be a first.

Can an all-out war between the human Alliance and the Dominion be avoided? Will the Alliance's agents get the better of our intrepid anti-hero-turned-hero? Find out next time, in the next thrilling update of Titanium Core!!!

    The Journey begins here...
