This should be top priority for this mod,as it is now it is terrible,common levies are fighting like elite troops even when outnumbered 5 to 1,they dont break,you can just ordinary spearmen and win every battle.

It was stated sooo many times that unit balancing will be done soon.
By the way, I was playing with matched combat be gone and somehow did not encounter most of balancing bugs written here, like levy hoplites/spearmen beating armoured legionares or levies fighting till death. Only bugs I've seen in last week were wrong stats that did not correspond with units look etc.

I just did 5 minutes ago as Carthage,some random celtic tribe can dish serious amounts of damage with levies against my levy troops,and i did nothing wrong in terms of strategy

VH/VH, VH/H H/H its the same deal in all those settings,units that should break waaaaaaaaay sooner dont,and fight much better then they should.
Elite units are really not elite,just a different name.
All in all unit balancing is horrible,its all nice and well that they add historical factions and units and all,but unit balancing must be addresed fast.

hopefully they will have a system like RC in kingdom to balance the whole unit
not just fix some UNIT X beat UNIT y problem, so far unit dont feel that much of different on field
elite unit dont feel elite, your faction elite unit perform almost the same as low tier unit.
range unit have exceptionally high dmg on heavy inf compare to the inf dmg
it only take a 1m for a jav unit to drop half of a heavy inf dead which will take a 5m or more if you fight it
with inf. its just beak the pace of the battle way too much. its like a killing race if you dont wanna take too many losses
you have to kill the range before it can heavily dmg your inf unit. and this cut out the fun of strategy of manuver
i really wish the mod team will use method similar to the Real combat mod, if any need it i can post the category RC mod
use to balance their stats, am sure that will help to bring this mod into a new height
I have my own RC system used in polish mods for medieval, but this system won't work for Rome 2 due to completly different stat and the way those stats correspond with eachother.
For example, in Medieval 2 deffence more important then attack, but in Rome 2 it is the opposite.

Of course there are balance problems; this is a new(ish) mod for a new(ish) game and the lead modder, Selea has been afk for months now. The issues regarding killing rates have been raised countless times before. Personally I like the way infantry works at the moment, though I do agree that javelins and pilla (ing pilla) are way overpowered. I like the manual pila throwing system, but the automated throw on attack is given to too many units and way to OP. This problem has been around for ages though.

In vanilla the BAI is more of a challenge then in DeI. The AI uses more strategy. I hope that this can be fixed. Also hope that Selea is oké. And will come back to the mod.
AI uses the same strategies, BAI can be modded only by CA.

it is a great news that developer of the team is notice this
about elite unit balance, is it possible to impelement some sort of asymetrical balance
make elite unit "OP" in battle but limit its number by increase their upkeep fee dramticly lets say 300-500C per turn
Wittman, it's better to play the battles on normal when using DeI. On h/vh the units get a lot of buffs. And so there is no balance.
Someone will always complain about unit balancing because it is a subjective matter. People have different expectations and it is impossible to please everyone.
I, for one, find the current stat system to be relatively well balanced. If I block a narrow passage with Pedites Extraordinarii, it will stay blacked a LOT more than with lower quality infantry. Also, a charge from lower quality cavalry will have a much smaller effect than the wrecking ball that is noble cav.
My guess is that people expect elite infantry to work like a steamroller and smash the puny lower quality infantry similar to cav. But in DeI, in my opinion, that's not what infantry is about (except for shock infantry, ofc)
As for levies fighting well when outnumbered 5 to 1 ... I don't know what other mods or difficulty you were using but that never happened on my side and I play on Hard. Usually undisciplined levies burst like a big baloon and rout after you kill their general and apply a cav charge to their rear. Even with more than 70% of the unit intact.
Not in my games,i admit it happens SOMETIMES but not at all always.
Started a new one with Macedon,4000 vs 6000(spear levies,javelin,light cavarly) some dacian tribe,and after 25 minutes they dont rout,even after i killed their general and half their army,they still can inflict serious damage to my better then average units.

On normal battle is for kids with no skill, fights are boring on so low lvl i can click all to attack and go away from pc... i know even if enemy got more units i will win.
Hard or very hard is lvl than u must think and find a clue to win a battle.
and battles look the same enemy rush and focus almost all units in middle of my army and i can easily flank them without any problems.
On very hard difference is that units are more powerful and stand longer and kill more of your man.
Till CA give tools to modable battles no one will fix it battles.
Balance will help only in 30 % of what we all need.

Because on VH levies get such huge bonuses that they have higher stats then heavy infantry.
