I have watched a few of the chapters and its interesting. One thing I noticed is that you don't really build a lot of watchtowers, they are useful in places where the border is static and don't have upkeep. Anyway back to killing the hobbits

Thanks for watching. I think watchtowers never crossed my mind because I've pretty much been fighting an offensive war, but they might be useful for watching my borders with the Dunedain, Lindon and Dunland.

    Episode XII

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Tremac looked across his vast Enedwaith horde. More reinforcements had arrived from the south, bringing his army to nearly 3,000 troops, larger than it'd had ever been since the beginning of the war. With this army, he knew he'd be unstoppable.

"The Undertowers should be in sight soon", said the messenger.

"If they're towers, shouldn't we already be seeing them?" asked Tremac.

"It's a Halfling settlement, my King", said the messenger. "We'll know when we start seeing the holes they live in".

"Why have they named it the Undertowers then?" asked Tremac.

"Because it is near some famed elven towers", replied the messenger.

"Perhaps they are underground towers", said Tremac.

"I don't see how that makes sense", said the messenger.

Tremac's lieutenant rode up besides them. "My lord, our maps have been updated". He withdrew a scroll from his belt and
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
unfurled it for Tremac to see.

"Ah, another green blob to the south of here", said Tremac. "These bastard Bree-landers conquered a lot of land and need to be brought down".

The messenger took the map off Tremac and looked at it. "The Bree-landers have another settlement to the north of here, not the south. It's another long march".

"We need to free the people of that town from the Bree-landers", said Tremac. "Foreign conquerors will not be tolerated".

The messenger and the lieutenant glanced at each other as they both noticed the hypocrisy of that statement.

"This is the farthest extent of the Bree-landers", said the messenger as they looked from atop the town hall of Caras Calairnen. It had once been an elven settlement that had fallen into disrepair and abandonment. The Bree-landers had taken and fortified, mostly as a colony, much the same as what they had done in the Barrow-Downs.

"Is this the edge of the world?" asked Tremac.

"No", sighed the messenger. "We have two options now, my King. Go back to the land of the Halflings or strike east for the reoccupied Dunedain cities".

"You mean", said Tremac, "we can either kill the midget people or the tall people?"

"Correct", answered the messenger. "The Dunedain cities are wondrous, but mostly in ruins. However, if we can rebuild them it will cement the glory of our Empire. The remaining Halflings will be a thorn in our side, but their villages are nearly worthless in the grand scheme of things".

"We shall take the land of the tall kings", said Tremac. "We will take their mighty halls where brother and sister can live in harmony".

"That sounds...wonderful, my King", said the messenger. "The first city on the path is the Sunken City. It was once the capital of their Kingdom but it was abandoned after their fall and the lake has flooded much of it. But even though much of it is in ruins, I hear it is a mighty sight to behold".

"Not more mighty than Alcfud", said the King. "Gather our men".

    Summary of Episode XII -

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The mopping up of Bree-land continues as Bree lose both their western settlements of the Undertowers and Caras Calairnen. Meanwhile, a small Dunedain army laid siege to Bree but quickly backed off. The most disappointing part of the episode was when Bree declined my invite to vassalage. Even though the war is pretty much lost for them, they seem bent on fighting to the end. With no more Bree-lander settlements near Tremac's army, the Dunedain lands are next in line.

Nice work on Bree, they can be a pretty strong faction. You seem to be suffering from a lack of cavalry, might be worth going after Dunland as I think you can recruit their cav from their settlements. Its a pity you can't recruit the cardolan units. I look forward to the next update

    Episode XIII

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"You told me the city was sunken", said Tremac, a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"Parts of the city are sunken", clarified the messenger.

"I was looking forward to fighting underwater", replied Tremac.

"You were?" asked the messenger. "Do you know how to swim?"

"Of course", said the King. "When I was young, myself and the other boys from the village used to play a game called Rock Dodger".

    "Rock Dodger?" said the messenger.

"There was a part of the river where the current is really strong and there were all these giant rocks in the river", explained Tremac. "You had to let the current take you down the river but you had to dodge the rocks as you went down".

    "That sounds...dangerous", said the messenger.

"Yea, it was", said the King. "But I never got beaten. I hit my head a few times but some kids got impaled or crushed or drowned, but usually they were the weak kids. If you helped with the farming, the wood chopping and the mining, you were strong and you were able to dodge the rocks fairly easily. The ones who learned their letters, they usually were the ones who died".

"That...explains a lot", said the messenger.

"Both my sons used to play it as well", continued Tremac. "That's why Foska is dumb. He hit his head on a rock and now he can't think properly".

"Didn't you hit your head on a rock?" asked the messenger.

"A few times", answered Tremac, "but as you can see it didn't affect me at all. So about this city?"

"The Dunedain know this city better than any man", replied the messenger. "They are better fighters than the Bree-landers, so our men will find it more difficult. The city is filled with ruined streets and buildings the Dunedain may use as vantage or ambush points. Unfortunately, the Dunedain have repaired the walls of the city so we will find it difficult to get in".

Tremac shrugged. "Shouldn't be a problem".

"You said it wouldn't be a problem!" shouted Tremac. "A thousand of our slain now water the lakes of Evendim with their blood!"

"That was rather poetic, my King", said the messenger. "But it was you who said it wouldn't be a problem".

"Was it?" he asked. "Ah...well there is no reason to be mad anymore". He looked around. "It is a beautiful city, but still not comparable to Alcfud. Hardly anyone lives here though. How shall I recruit or tax the local population when there is none?"

"This victory is mostly symbolic", replied the messenger. "By taking their old capital, you have shown the prowess of the Enedwaith and the weakness of the Dunedain".

"They buried their old Kings in this city?" asked Tremac. "I would see them".

The messenger nodded and led the King down into the crypts after a lengthy journey through the city. The dead were still being collected in the streets and buried. There was not a single Dunedain prisoner.

They passed from tomb to tomb in the shadow of massive statues carved in the likeness of the Arnorian Kings. "Old men", said Tremac as he passed, despite being over sixty himself. "These Kings could not lead their men into battle and that is why the Kingdom fell".

"The Dunedain lived longer than any men", said the messenger. "Even longer back then". He ran his fingers over the carvings on the first tomb. "This is Valandil, the third king of Arnor, he lived till he was 260".

"That is a big number?" asked Tremac.

"Over four times your age", responded the messenger.

Tremac wandered over to another statue. "The man in this statue is not old", he said.

"That is Valandur, eighth King of Arnor", said the messenger. "He was the only Arnorian King to die in battle".

"That is the way a King should die", said Tremac.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Episode XIII Summary -

The second Enedwaith army under Iurnan has finally arrived at Amon Sul, completing the pincer that will envelop the Dunedain lands. Meanwhile, Tremac and his army arrived at Annuminas and assaulted it after building siege equipment. Despite the garrison being nearly three times smaller, Enedwaith losses were catastrophic with over a thousand dead, leaving the remaining 1200 with little offensive capacity. Along with that, the economy is slowly losing money and I have to quickly compensate by capturing Dunedain settlements. The war in the north is not over yet.

Yea, I'm so so bad at siege battles. Usually I would just starve them out, but for entertainment and "story" purposes I had to attack the city, even if it meant losing most of my army. Ideally I would've liked to have simply moved from city to city with minimal casualties, but it looks like I may have to retrain some of my troops...or rather, train some troops in Alcfud and march them all the way up to Annuminas.

    Thanks for reading.

It's interesting. I started with the intention of making the Enedwaith a nation of idiots, but I've mostly just had Tremac be the idiot whilst other characters (the messenger and the lieutenant) seem fairly normal. In this episode I've added a bit more idiocy from people other than Tremac to show that he is not alone.

    Episode XIV

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"Men at the gates!" shouted a soldier.

Tremac laboured down the crumbling steps with the messenger at his side. "Who are they?!?" he asked.

"They're wearing our colours and waving our banners", shouted back the soldier. "They're our men!"

"And what makes you so certain?" asked Tremac.

"Uh...I just said..." stuttered the soldier.

"You should open the gates", said the messenger.

The King shrugged and nodded at the guardsmen who swung back the heavy gates of Annuminas which had stood for thousands of years.

They were Enedwaith, easily visible by the excessive mud they had picked up on their journey, the fur armour and the unkempt beards. Except for their leader, a clean-shaven man who looked as if he took a bath once a day!

"My King", said the leader. "I am the Captain. You left us in the land of Halflings, but I gathered some men and came north once we heard of what happened at this city".

    "How did you hear?"

"Farmers and woodsmen said the King of Mud turned Lake Evendim the colour of blood whilst capturing the Sunken City", said the Captain.

"The King of Mud?" said Tremac, frowning.

"Aye, they said you were the King of mud and before conquering the lands", said a soldier in the Captain's column.

"I was the King of Mud", admitted Tremac, "but the King of ..." He silently hoped the waste holes they had dug in Alcfud weren't overflowing again.

"Nevertheless", said the Captain, "I left Sergeant Donchaddchadmurnall in control of the Shire garrisons. We heard our losses were high, so we've come here to help you continue you on".

"Good", said Tremac. "With a steady supply of soldiers I shall be the King of Mud, and soon, the whole world!"

"Riders at the gate!" shouted a soldier.

"Again?" whined Tremac as he made his way down the steps again. One of his bodyguards suddenly tripped and somersaulted down the steps, landing flat on his face. He slowly got to his feet and looked at his right arm, which appeared to be bent the wrong direction.

"I think I need help", he said.

A group of soldiers grabbed him and dragged him towards the smithy. "Get the hammer!" one shouted. "We need to hammer his arm right!"

Tremac shook his head and walked towards the gate where a group of soldiers stood waiting with their horses.

"Outriders", said the Captain, who already awaited. "They bring back...a message".

One of the riders threw a sack at Tremac's feet. He emptied the sack and watched in horror as a head rolled into the mud.

"Someone get a medic!" shouted the King.

The soldiers looked around in confusion. "He's dead, my lord", said the messenger.

"His eyes are open!" said Tremac. He pointed at the head.

"I can assure you he's dead", repeated the messenger.

"My King, there was a note stuffed into his mouth", informed the Captain. He handed the King the note.

"I can read that for you", offered the messenger.

"There is nothing to read", said Tremac. "It is a map!"

The messenger took the piece of paper from the King. He looked at it for a second and then frowned, "this isn't a map".

To the Mud King of the South
You have entered lands sacred to the Dunedain and slaughtered our people who live there. You cannot even begin to comprehend the history of these lands and their importance to our people. The crimes you have committed are awful by the standards of our people, but as a barbarian I do not expect you to understand this. A week ago we wiped out a barbarian army on the slopes of Amon Sul and this message was delivered by one who fought there. As you may have noticed, he is not in a very good condition. Just as your army was slaughtered at Amon Sul, your army, the one you lead, will be slaughtered should you encroach further into our lands. Thus, we deliver you an ultimatum you will accept assuming you have more brains than brawn. Leave our lands, give up Annuminas and leave without spoils and we will let you live in peace. Stay...and we shall deliver you to your son in Enedwaith...in a sack.

"So they threaten us", said Tremac once the messenger was finished reading aloud.

"The Dunedain are not a numerous people", said the Captain. "They cannot hope to stand against us forever, but the blood price will continue to be high should we continue".

"What demon decided blood should replace gold?" asked Tremac. "Captain, Lieutenant, gather our soldiers. We march to Baraketka".

    "Barketta", corrected the messenger.

    Summary of Episode XIV -

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
A disastrous battle was fought at the foothills of Amon Sul after a relief army arrived to save those within the watchtower. Although the Dunedain took heavy casualties, Iurnan only escaped with 60 men who are marching back to Enedwaith to recover. Meanwhile, I took some of my stronger units out of the Shire garrisons and sent them to Tremac, whilst recruiting River units in Michel Delving to bolster my garrisons. With a few more men, Tremac was in the position to continue his offensive and laid siege to Barketta.

Try the minimal UI for battles its less intrusive.

I noticed you didn't build your culture building when you captured a city, building it first will allow you to recruit and retrain troops quicker.

    Good update

Default Re: [TATW Divide and Conquer] Clans of Enedwaith - Hybrid Let's Play/Story AAR (Episode XIV - 6/9)

Hey guys, I have some news in regards to this AAR. I'll be overseas for the next three weeks (I don't get back until the 7th of October) so there won't be a new episode out until at least around the 10th of October. I'm not ditching this AAR. The adventures of Tremac aren't over yet so this is going on temporary hold until I get back. So this is the final episode for the time being. When I get back, I'll continue on this AAR until its eventual demise end which might be when he finishes of the Bree-landers and the Dunedain or perhaps when he dies. I also plan on doing a Shadow of Mordor playthrough which is looking to be a really fun looking game (despite how much lore it breaks) so I'll have plenty to keep me busy. Thanks to everyone who has watched and read this so far.

    Episode XV

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"My lord!" cried the messenger as he pushed through the siege camp. "My lord, I have just received word that the Dunedain King has been spotted on the walls of the castle!"

"Why did you simply spot him?" asked Tremac. "Why did someone not kill him?"

"Because he is in their castle", said the Captain. "It would take an army to get in".

"Then all we need to do is find an army", said Tremac. "Do you see one?"

"This...is the army", said the messenger.

Tremac looked around at the sea of patchwork tents. "I see tents but no army", he said. "Do you propose we attack with an army of tents?"

"The men in those tents are out foraging, training or sleeping", said the Captain. "The sort of things soldiers do when they're getting ready for a fight".

Tremac looked at the messenger. "Is this true?"

"Well, yes...I...my lord, you've been traveling with an army for over 20 years now...surely you should know these things", stammered the messenger.
"It doesn't matter, my lord. We don't need to attack the walls, we probably can't afford to attack them anyway. If we starve them out, we will lose less men and they will eventually be forced to fight".

"And how long will this take? What if the King escapes?"

"We have him surrounded", assured the Captain.

"What if he makes someone else King?" pressed Tremac.

"I fail to see how that makes a difference", responded the Captain.

    "Fine!" said Tremac.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

"He died honorably", said the messenger as he looked upon the body of the King Aragorn.

"He died like an idiot!" exclaimed Tremac. "He charged right into us!"

"Only because the battle was over", said the messenger. "He realised it was all over and decided to take as many of us with him as possible". He had slain six men before being hit by an arrow. Once the first arrow hit its mark, the Dunedain King couldn't avoid them anymore and soon he had fallen from his horse with half a dozen arrows sticking out of him. "He slew six of our men".

"I would slay a hundred of our men before I died", boasted Tremac.

"You would slay a hundred of our men?" asked the messenger.

    "Yes", replied Tremac smugly.

The messenger shrugged and followed the King as he stepped into his newly erected tent whilst the town of Barketta was cleared of any remaining enemies. The unfurled map was already waiting for them on the table, which suddenly collapsed as the messenger accidentally bumped it.

"We really should invest in new tables", said the messenger as he picked up the map. "We now have three options. Fornost to the east, the Dunedain border lands to the north or we can go back to the Shire and finish our enemies".

Tremac rubbed his chin in thought. "There is no fourth option?"

    "Uh, no", said the messenger.

"A fourth option would make this much easier", said the King. "Can you make one up?"

"Ah okay...the fourth option would be to return home", said the messenger as he shrugged.

"If the King is in need of sound advice, I would happily oblige", said a third voice.

They both turned and looked at the entrance of the tent where a old-looking man in a blue robe stood.

"Who are you?" asked the messenger.

"I am Alatar, the Blue Wizard", said the old man, "and I have seen great things in your King".

    "Seriously..." muttered the messenger.

    Summary of Episode XV -

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
This was a really short episode. It basically consists of me moving my soldiers across my mighty empire and then fighting the battle for Barketta. That battle was one of my more successful ones yet and involved the death of King Aragorn. So as far as I know, I've killed two out of the nine members of the fellowship and I'm pretty sure only six of them are actually in-game to be killed.

That quote made me laugh as well

Thanks for the new uploads, Valandur. In my current game as Umbar, the Clans just got destroyed by the men of Bree, which actually made me feel bad, because once I saw Alcfud had fallen, I had hoped I would be able to save our all favourite Cuckold Tremac. Hope your Tremac will be able to find more glory on the battlefield against the Dunedain and whoever will be conquered afterwards!

I think it is safe to say that my Tremac is riding his luck. I don't think I've ever had a general survive so many battles in the one campaign.

Well, I got back a few days and have recorded the next session so this AAR is officially underway again.

    Chapter XVI

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    "
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
A wizard!" laughed Tremac. "I don't need a wizard to tell me I'm great!"

Alatar smiled painfully, "I just thought you'd want to know from someone with authority. I have traveled far from the east to find you".

"Well, wizard", said Tremac. "You may be a wizard by I am a gods!"

"Just one god", corrected the messenger quietly.

"Truly only a man-god-king could conquer such a vast empire", said Tremac.

"You are right", said Alatar. "Please forgive me. However, if I could have one request..."

"And what might this be request you have?" said Tremac, words slipping from his mouth in the wrong order.

"I wish to examine your mind", said Alatar. "I wish to know what makes a man such as you become a...god-king-man".

"It's man-god-king to you!" shouted Tremac. "I grant you your request, wizard".

"Remember that you are surrounded by an entire army", added the captain. "Make a wrong move and you shall find yourself full of arrows".

The wizard nodded and slowly stepped towards Tremac. The King watched him warily and stood up straight as the wizard was in reaching distance.

"Your kind is still a mystery to us", said Alatar. "We know much about the Dunedain...but of the Middle Men we are still wandering in the dark". He placed his staff on the ground. "Only a few men, mostly the long-dead Kings of Gondor, have ever conquered as much as you. I must know how this is possible!"

The captain placed his hand on his hilt, "And what if he breaks the King's mind...or goes in and steals our plans".

"I trust him", said the messenger.

Alatar placed his hands on the King's head for a few seconds and soon enough, a white nimbus appeared around the King's head. Tremac stared straight ahead, eyes blank, whereas Alatar's eyes were closed as he delved deep into the mind of the King. After a minute, Alatar's eyes snapped open and he instantly stumbled back, almost falling over.

"What was it?" asked the messenger.

Alatar blinked. "I can't believe it", he whispered. "How can something like this be possible?"

"Am I a wizard?" asked Tremac.

Alatar's gaze switched to the messenger and he frowned. "The King's mind...there is nothing going on inside there!"

The messenger sighed. "You didn't need to delve his mind to find that out".

    "Is he dead?" asked Tremac.

A nearby Moot Keeper buried his axe into the Ranger's back, but the Ranger spun with his own axe and smashed the Moot Keeper's shield away.

"He's unstoppable!" shrieked a nearby soldier.

"Why won't he die!" shouted another who drove his sword into the Ranger's side. The Ranger simply grunted and spun around with his axe, slicing the head off another poor Enedwaith soldier.

Although surrounded by soldiers, the Ranger fought on, even after his army had been completely destroyed. The Prince of the Dunedain was dead, buried under a pile of his own soldier who had been slaughtered after the veteran Arthedain swordsmen had been obliterated. The last Ranger had almost outrun horsemen before stopped and beginning his final stand.

Tremac stepped forward. "If this man is invisible, then let's see how he stands before the power of a god!"

"The word you were looking for was invincible", corrected the messenger.

Tremac ignored him and stepped towards the Ranger, his men parting to either side. He began to speed up as the Ranger slew two more of his men, adding to the ring of corpses that surrounded him. Tremac raised his axe and strode the last few steps.

"Hey Ranger, how do you like the taste of-". Suddenly his feet caught on a dead body and he tripped forward onto the Ranger, driving them both to the ground. Tremac received a face full of mud and found himself reluctant to get up as he swallowed a mouthful and was pleased by the taste. Around him, he could hear cheering.

He pushed himself to his feet and looked at the Ranger, who had somehow axed himself in the face, ended his murder spree.

"You truly are a god!" said one soldier.

"Only a god could kill a warrior as mighty as he!" shouted another one.

Tremac smiled and began to nod. He raised his axe and triumphantly and shouted, "Live long Enedwaith!"

The soldier began to chant, "Live long Enedwaith", and they raised their King in the air, his voice carrying across the entire army.

Nearby, the messenger facepalmed and went to join Alatar the Blue.

    Summary of Episode XVI -

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
This was the first time I played in a while, over a month to be exact. I was planning on taking Fornost, but decided against it after I was skeptical on whether Tremac's army could face numerous amounts of elite Arthedain troops. Instead, Tremac's army went north but was halted by a small army under the Prince of the Dunedain. After a bloody battle, the Dunedain were completely destroyed and the way north was clear. In the south, I found that one of my small villages was home to 5 different generals, so I moved them out in every direction to govern some new cities. As per usual, the constant reinforcement trains between Alcfud and Tremac continue.

    Episode XVII

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"What are those lands?" asked Tremac, pointing north over the walls of Bar-i-Derponyah.

"I have not traveled those lands", said Alatar, "however if you'd like to know more about the east..."

"Those lands were once part of Angmar", said the messenger. "Although what's left of Angmar has risen again...in those days these lands would not have been safe and a place like this would've been very important to the Old Kingdom".

    "What is Angmar?" asked Tremac.

"A vile place", said the messenger. "Filled with Orcs and other foul creatures".

"Sounds like we must destroy them!" said Tremac. "Gather the army!"

"No, wait!" exclaimed the messenger. "My King, we already left the Bree-landers at our backs...we can't afford to leave the Dunedain at our backs as well. Surely it would be wise for us to destroy them before making new enemies!"

Tremac blinked in confusion. "We haven't destroyed the Bree-landers?"

"No, my lord", said the messenger. "We left them in pursuit of the Dunedain".

Tremac raised his hand, signalling the messenger to be quiet. "The Bree-landers are the ones with the midget folk, right?"

The messenger nodded. "The halflings, my lord. Their land is all that remains of Bree".

"By the mud god himself!" exclaimed Tremac. "Gather the men! We need to kill them!"

The messenger handed Tremac the letter. "From your son".

Tremac opened the letter and stared at it blankly.

"Sorry, I forgot you can't read", apologised the messenger. "It says that your old enemy, Coll the Profane, captured and executed your good friend Fearghas, my lord".

Tremac snickered and muttered the word 'Fearghas' under his breath. Suddenly, he was immersed in his old memories.

He, Fearghas and Coll had risked the treacherous rocks along the river Brandywine. Without warning, one of the rocks gave way and Coll was left dangling above a thirty metre drop into the rapids below.

"Coll!" Fearghas had shouted. He dashed forwards but Tremac had grabbed him, knowing how dangerous the rocks could be. He knew that none of them could help Coll.

"Help me you s!" shouted Coll, who would later be known as Coll the Profane due to his language.

"Tremac, we have to help him!" cried Fearghas, tears running down his face.

Tremac had slapped Fearghas and knelt down, looking into Coll's eyes as he desperately tried to pull himself back onto stable ground. "I'm sorry", he had said to his doomed friend.

Coll's eyes widened and just like that, the rock he was holding onto loosened and he vanished into the rapids below. Fearghas lay on the ground crying and even Tremac had been shaken by the sudden loss of his friend.

Years later, Coll would re-emerge with a group of bandits. Together, they plagued Enedwaith's southern borders, but could go no further due to the fact that Coll's legs had been shattered by his fall. When Tremac had led his armies south, he had ignored Coll, feeling sorry for his friend who would've been his most trusted captain.

Fearghas had never been the same. He was afraid of almost everything and rarely left Alcfud. Eventually, Tremac had all but given up on him, but visited him purely on principle. Fearghas had always said that the moment he left Alcfud, bad things would happen. He had received a letter from his son several months ago saying that Fearghas had begun taking walks along the rivers, finally getting over his fear of the outside. It was ironic that he would be captured by Coll's agents and executed by the friend he wanted to save.

"My lord", said the messenger, snapping Tremac back to reality. "Your son wants permission to finally hunt Coll down".

Tremac shrugged. "He can do what he wants".

"And what about Fearghas?" asked the messenger.

"What about him?" responded Tremac. "He's dead". He pushed past the messenger and went outside the keep of Bar-i-Derponyah. The air from the north was cold and he already longed to return to the slightly warmer climate of Enedwaith or even Bree-land.

He took in a deep breath of cold air and laughed. "Fearghas..." He laughed again, this time louder. "What a stupid name!"

    Summary of Episode XVII -
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

This episode was mostly made out of leftover footage and was intended to be longer, but I suffered a game crash and simply cut out some of the stuff that wouldn't have made sense. So not much really happens this episode. I take Bar-i-Derponyah (not the actual name!) and basically dick around following that, building spies (Fearghas) and sending them to snoop out Coll the Profane. I'm not sure whether I should attempt to take Fornost (it will not be easy and I will likely lose most, if not all my army) or I should return south and finish off the Shire.

    Welcome back!

Nice story about Fearghas and good to see Tremac in action again! I saw that he's no longer 'the Cuckold', but is now Mootlord Tremac the Just.. hah!

If you're not sure about what to do next, think it'd be better to try and take down Breeland first, then focus more on the Dunedain. They seem to inflict a lot more losses and might be better saved til later. Also, I'm not sure how active the AI is on medium difficulty, but if they ever decide to march out of Sackville, they could pretty much steamroll most of your southern territories again, so it might be better to take them out first.

    Good luck!

    Episode XVIII

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    "Messenger
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
!" came a shout from the battlements.

The messenger laboured up the staircase where he found Tremac and Alatar the Blue standing on the walls, looking out over the vast emptiness of Eriador.

"I have come to a decision", said Tremac. He turned and faced the messenger, who was immediately surprised by how old Tremac looked. It seemed like the King had aged 30 years in one day.

"My lord...you look tired", noted the messenger.

"I feel tired", said Tremac. "Messenger, I have decided that we are returning home".

"Home?" the word lingered on the messenger's lips. "Why are we going home?"

"I have to confess to you, my loyal servant", said the King. "For thirty years, we have campaigned across this vast land and now I am close to age of double of what I was before, so I think I'm nearly the number with the seven and the zero in it".

"I don't understand", said the messenger.

"I have been using Gormac's Special Skin Cream for the last twenty years", said Tremac. He handed the messenger a glass jar.

The messenger opened it and looked at the brownish cream. It was mud. "This is just mud", said the messenger.

"Not just any mud", replied Tremac. "Blessed mud from the River Isen. It has maintained the illusion of my youth for some time now and now it has nearly run out".

The messenger shook his head. "You still fight well", he said. "It doesn't matter if you look old. If you fight well, the men shall still respect you".

"Fight?" asked Tremac. "All I've ever done is stand in the back and hold my axe and shield...and even they are becoming too heavy for me".

"But you killed the mad axeman!" exclaimed the messenger.

"Luck", said Tremac. "We're going home, messenger. These men need rest and so do I".

"What about our empire?" asked the messenger.

"It will stand", assured Tremac. "But it is time for me to pass the torch".

Note: I'm aware the last episode appears to simply be black for the last 5 minutes or so. I don't know why that happened, but the game crashed shortly afterwards so that could be the reason.

I'd like to thank everyone who followed this AAR, whether you just watched the videos or just read the text, or maybe even did both. If you've noticed, it has been a while since the last update so I'll do some explaining.

It appears DaC has gotten a bit more unstable for me as the campaign went on. I suffered a few crashes earlier in the campaign, but in the last three episodes I experienced a 3 or 4 crashes. I edited some out but you may have noticed some of the episodes were a bit short or ended abruptly. That was mostly due to the game crashing. I tried to record some more after Episode 18, but after the game crashing twice before I really got anywhere, I decided to call it quits.

To everyone who didn't follow the story, I started off playing Enedwaith (a region in the south-east of Eriador, next to Dunland). I conquered most of the rebel tribes around me and then proceeded to break through the Bree-lander defensive line in the south. Soon afterwards, I was in control of much of Bree-land and continued my conquests by capturing many of the Dunedain settlements. By the end of the game, the campaign had went on for 33 years, so approximately around 130-140 turns were played. I also had the largest empire in the game and almost had the largest military. Tremac, the King of Enedwaith, survived the entire campaign and was in most of Enedwaith's successful battles. I don't think I've ever fought so many battles with one general.

To everyone who plays DaC or considers playing it, Enedwaith is an extremely fun faction to play. Although I had some issues with recruitment, you start in an extremely unique position where you can effectively go to war with so many different factions. You can also choose whether you wanna be a good guy and help Rohan out by opening a second front against Isengard and Dunland or you can choose to be a bad guy (like me) by attacking the Eriadorians or stabbing Gondor in the back. The units are also one of the weakest (please don't be turned away by this), so every war you have is a challenge where you have to play smart. I'd like to thank the DaC team by bringing this faction to life.

Due to abrupt end of this AAR, I think I should make some stuff up about the future of Tremac's great empire.

The Future of Enedwaith and Middle Earth
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Tremac and his army returned to Enedwaith. In the north, the Dunedain and Bree-landers reclaimed some territory, but the majority of Tremac's conquests remained. Tremac would remain retired until 3017, when Sauron launched his great invasion of Middle Earth.

With many of the Fellowship's members already dead, Sauron (along with Saruman) were quick to defeat the divided and leaderless armies of Middle Earth. Minas Tirith fell and Sauron's armies ravaged Gondor's heartland, slaying thousands and taking tens of thousands of slaves. Theoden, corrupted by Saruman, barely reacted when Saruman's Uruk-hai finally broke past the Westfold and laid siege to Edoras. Although Eomer was able to gather a few thousand men and save Edoras, his losses were high and Rohan as a Kingdom was effectively over. Gathering what people he had left, Eomer set off north back to the Eotheod's original homeland in the Vale of Anduin. However, due to the boldness of the reinvigoured Mountain Orcs, not many of his folk made it back.

In the north, Dale and Erebor were gradually pushed back by Rhun. Dorwinion, which had attempted to stay neutral, was sacked by Rhun. Sauron's armies, which had plundered Anorien, were sent north across a dying Rohan and Lothlorien was attacked from two sides. Although the Golden Woods held, losses were extremely high. Sauron's armies were also able to travel unhindered through Mirkwood as many of the woodsmen and Beornings had already perished in the fight against the Mountain Orcs. Thranduil's Halls were sacked and the remaining Wood Elves fled to the northern fringes of the forest. With Orcs coming down from the Grey Mountains and out of Mirkwood, Dale and Esgaroth were sacked and the remaining Dalemen and Dwarves took refuge in the Lonely Mountain. Other refugees also managed to flee to the Iron Hills.

In Eriador, the Remnants of Angmar attacked the newly created Enedwaith Empire. Big mistake. Although the Hobbits and Bree-men were still enemies with the Enedwaith, they united against a common foe. Tremac returned from retirement and marched north, finishing the destruction of Angmar. In an unexpected show of kindness, Tremac offered the Dunedain and many of his Bree-landers the chance to set up an autonomous state in northern Rhudaur and Angmar. Some accepted, but many stayed and integrated into the Ened
waith Empire. Refugees, fleeing into Enedwaith from western Gondor, urged King Tremac to turn his attention on Sauron and Saruman. Although he did not wish to start a war, his hand was forced when Sauron offered him a Ring of Power. Tremac had always hated jewellery.

The Enedwaith armies caught Isengard from the rear as they attempted to complete the destruction of Rohan. Although they were strangers to siege weapons, the Enedwaith scaled the walls and opened the gates for their armies to flood in. Saruman was defeated by Alatar the Blue in personal combat. Seeing the destruction of Isengard, Dunland pledged itself to Enedwaith and Saruman's armies in Rohan scattered into roaming warbands, easily defeated by Tremac's men. Tremac then split his vast army into three: one force would march north and save the Free Peoples there, one would clear Rohan and then march into Anorien, whilst the other would come through Western Gondor.

By 3019 TA, Tremac's armies were in position. A vast Orc army out of Mirkwood was in the process of crossing the Anduin when they were ambushed by Tremac's soldiers. Enedwaith archers filled the Orc boats with arrows whilst other brave men dove into the river and overturned some of the flimsy vessels, causing the Orcs to drown. Sauron's Lieutenants in Dol Guldur were amazed to hear that their army which would finish off Lothlorien, was instead destroyed by the "western barbarians". Tremac's second army bolstered the remnants of Gondor's armies, regaining some of the lost territory and beginning a slow push to Anduin. The third and final army swept through Anorien and was in sight of the ruins of Minas Tirith before being pushed back by a vast Orc army. The fighting in Gondor soon turned into a stalemate as neither side could beat back the other. The Enedwaith had bred like crazy in the previous 40 years meaning losses could be easily replenished. However, the Enedwaith had become better fighters
since fighting with other soldiers and races. In the north, the Enedwaith soldiers cleansed the Vale of Anduin and collapsed the Orc caves in the Misty Mountains. They eventually met up with the survivors from Rohan. Meanwhile, the elves of Lothlorien, bolstered by reinforcements out of Rivendell and Lindon, crossed the Anduin and laid siege to Dol Guldur. Whilst clearing an Orc cave, one Enedwaith soldier found a strange ring on the body of an Orc general. Sharing Tremac's hate for jewellery, the soldier simply put the ring in his bag with the intenion of selling it later on.

Although success in the north continued, the stalemate in the south was unacceptable for Tremac. Hearing of rumours of an undead army, he entered the Paths of the Dead and was met by the Oathbreakers. The Oathbreakers were bent on slaying Tremac for tresspassing, but the King announced that he was pretty much the best thing since Isildur's heir and said that Alatar would break the curse on them if they fought for Enedwaith. The Oathbreakers accepted and swept into Gondor, causing the Orc lines to break and rout into terror. Alatar released the Oathbreakers, but Enedwaith's armies had already slaughtered the fleeing Orcs. The way to Minas Tirith was clear. Back in the north, Mirkwood had been cleansed apart from Dol Guldur and the Rhunish armies had fallen back from Erebor as an army of Enedwaith marched to relieve the siege.

With Sauron being defeated on every front, many of his allies abandoned him or refused to fight, acknowledging that this new Empire was to be feared more. Sauron fell back into Mordor, leaving behind his remaining territory in Gondor. Two of Tremac's armies (including Gondorians, Rohirrim and Dunlanders) reunited and besieged Minas Morgul, whilst Tremac's northern army, now with Dalemen, Dwarves, Elves and the remaining Rohirrim, marched south to the Black Gate. Both the Black Gate and Minas Morgul fell by 3022 TA and Tremac's armies met on the Plains of Gorgoroth, where Sauron's last stand was made. Quick to be defeafted, his remaining soldiers fled into Barad-Dur and closed the gates. Fascinated by volcanos, Tremac and some of his men hiked up Mount Doom and camped there for the night. Many of the soldiers were showing the spoils of war, much of which included jewellery, including the One Ring. Tremac was disgusted by the jewellery and ordered the soldiers to throw their jewellery into the volcano. Thus, the One Ring was unknowingly chucked into Mount Doom and Sauron was suddenly destroyed one night. The Free Peoples who besieged Barad-Dur were confused, but happy nonetheless.

After the war, Tremac passed away at the age of 81 and was honoured as a hero all throughout Middle Earth. Statues of him were built in Minas Tirith, Edoras and Dale, whilst elves created songs of his deeds. His son, Harec, took control of the Enedwaith empire which now owned nearly all of Eriador and now included Dunland and Rohan's lands beyond the Isen. Harec, wiser and more diplomatic than his father, helped Rohan and Gondor rebuild, whilst giving Dunedain and Bree-men equal rights within the Enedwaith Empire. His rule, which continued into the Fourth Age, was a time of technological and cultural advancement in Enedwaith. By the end of his reign, some historians claimed the Enedwaith Empire rivalled Gondor at its height.
