How to remove a unit?

I know, this is a very simple question and it's probably easy to do.
I'm trying to do some database modding for the first time ever, on my own.
Could someone briefly explain how to remove a unit from a factions roster so I can replace it with my own custom unit?

For example: I want to replace the Heroic Riders unit for the Caledones faction with another custom cav unit.
