Default Has the auxiliary barracks system been replaced by AOR?

I had not played DEI for a couple of months but I fired it up last night, and to my surprise the auxiliary barracks (Peridikos barracks - I don't remember the exact spelling) was missing from the Ptolemy research chain. Unfortunately that means no Galatians, amongst other units that I now seem unable to recruit... Will they show up in the main barracks chain? Maybe a Hoplite barracks will give me access to the high level foreign troops that were formerly faction specific? I did notice the AOR system for some of the surrounding provinces (it's culture based) and I love that, but the AOR map does not indicate that the high level foreign troops that are faction specific will become available based upon culture ( I am referring for example to Galatians for Egypt, or the Italian soldiers for Epirus/Syracuse). I didn't try to play any other faction, so this issue may be one that is related only to Egypt... I did however try to load up an Epirote campaign from a few months back to see if both barracks were still in it, but that caused a CTD, so between mod updates and CA patches old saves have become unplayable.

My question is if I should have access to both types of early barracks in the Ptolemy campaign (I have the main faction unit one that starts with an "H", but not the old one that allowed for recruitment of foreign soldiers - starts with a "P"), and if not, then how do they obtain the high level foreign soldiers like the Galatians?

I do know they consolidated the Greek Perioikoi and Hoplite Barracks into one. I'm not sure what the status on those units is currently. I believe their goal was just to move the Perioikoi units over to the main barracks, but if I remember correctly, there were a few units that were left out and will be patched back in (peltasts for example). Also, I'm fairly certain the AoR system is just supposed to supplement the usual system of recruitment to add flavor and allow recruitment in provinces with a different majority culture.

Of course, I'll defer to actual DeI developers if any of this is incorrect. I'm currently playing a Roman campaign, so I don't know what the most recent subpatches have done for the Greeks.

There are also reforms now for each culture. The units you're looking for might not be available until after your faction's reform.

Not sure if you aware, but AOR unit availability is tied to the main building chain of the area:

Level 2 means you get access to the lowest quality AOR, Level 3 means you get the mid quality AOR etc.

So referring to the AOR map you can see what you will get if keep upgrading your main building chain.

So the only way to get Galatians outside of Galatia now is by buying mercs? Love it!
