In a siege battle, you need at least one of these below.
    Artillery(Cannons, Catapults, Batista, Etc)
    Ladders
    Rams
    Siege Towers.

If you don't have one of these with the army attacking a settlement. They can't get past the wall. Custom Battles will not do a siege battle with out them.
And for the Free form Campaign, you can't attack a Walled Settlement with out them ether.

I know that and I didn't mean that. I meant that some settlements says settlement wont work until all slots completed and when I choose that settlement there is no buildings just the armies and but with other maps like the death mountain range it doesn't happen because it does have like instructions for example: Settlement: Huge fortification Culture:Barbaric but the Lynna's city doesn't have them so how I can put them to work?

As far as I know, not necessarily all custom settlements work in custom battles, but the map still has to exist.

Well I just know that some maps have instructions like; Settlement:Huge fortification, Culture:Barbaric. And others just says settlement wont until all slots completed so I guesss that they could work if I complete the slots but the question here is, What Slots? What the creator meant with that message? :C I really wanna play in the lynna's city map :/

The way custom settlements (and settlements in general) work in Medieval 2 is a bit wonky to put it in the nicest words. The engine has a tendency to prefer loading the stock Medieval 2 settlements when in custom battles. Even if the Northern European Castle is replaced by a custom settlement for instance, the engine will always attempt to load the closest stock settlement, probably the Northern European Fortress in the case of the Castle. Until every single stock settlement has been replaced some of the settlements won't work in custom battles because the engine will always look for a stock settlement that has yet to be replaced. This problem does not happen in the Freeform campaign or Hyrule Historia because you can specify the exact settlement path to load. There's no way to do that in Custom Battles since the parameters for custom settlements is vague enough. For instance you cannot select which faction the settlement belongs to in custom battles, something very important and needed to load the correct settlement properly which can be done in both the Freeform Campaign and Historical Battles set up files.

I only barely understood what you said.

Let me see if I got it right.

In certain Custom Battle-maps, the game will only load stock Medieval 2-Settlements instead of HTW-Settlements. This is due to a quirk in the engine.

But, then, what happens if you play with no Settlements, at all? Will it just load a generic Medieval 2-map? If so, then why are these maps in the Custom Battle-list, at all?
    CA needs competition.
