    Icon3 {DIK} Battle Beta - Download

    Dear TIW-Players,

in order to water Your mouths and sweeten the time of waiting we would like to introduce to You an appetiser - a battle-version of TIW 4.0. In this You can try out the shiny new units in custom or quick battles, including all factions except Hungary, as the latter are still being worked on - they are to receive a number of interesting additional units in version 4.0.

As if that wasn't enough, You can even contribute to the mod Yourselves: We want to employ Your screenshots of epic battles as loading screens in 4.0!
To that end You can post Your screens from the battle-version here until August 26th. We will then choose the best 20 and use them in 4.0. Of course You will appear in the credits then

    So: To Battle!

    Note:
Please, this thread is ONLY for the screenshots. Discussions and problems might be posted in the already provided threads.
    Many thank's!

P.S: You can use the english translation (version 1.0), this will partly translate the units, but not all of them!

I cut off the ui using Gimp. See uncut random pic below.

I believe it's possible to play without a ui, but I have no idea how to do it.

Without banners (why didn't think of that before?).

Okay, that's enough pic spam from me.

I did a small scenario battle between Venice and the Ottoman's, In this scenario an Uprising in Ragusa with secret Venetian support has just occurred. The Ottomans quickly muster a force to quell the uprising but are met with a larger Venetian force at a river crossing.

    Venetian Army:

The Ottoman Artillery begins to bombard my army:

The Ottomans move their forces in to position to meet my army:

But are instead flanked by a hidden unit of mounted crossbowmen:
(*note: I was going to use Stradiotes but since it is still vanilla it would have clashed with the excellent units and not have done the battle justice)

My Muskets begin firing volleys against the Turks:

    My Heavy Archers soon follow:

The ottoman General launches a reckless charge against the fron of my Musketeers who are supported by Pikes:

The rest of the Ottoman Cavalry wing follows suit and meet grim results:

The Ottomans attempt to turn the tide of the battle by rushing forward their heavy Infantry who are peppered with Musket shot and Arrows:

The Artillery that had plagued my forces in battle finally felt the wrath of my cannons as the Ottoman army away:

In the end my forces had won the day, and I found the Pike, shot and bow combination to be rather effective, While the Muskets are deadly, support from the archers provided a steady and faster stream of fire which matched nicely with stronger, yet slower rate of fire from muskets

Sorry about the screenshots I'm not very good at taking them
