    Default Download and Installation

    DOWNLOAD:

Download the latest version of Rome Total History from one of the following sites:
    http://www.mediafire.com/download/3i...ym/RTH_2.0.rar

    Get additional loading screens here:
    http://www.mediafire.com/download/dp...ng_screens.rar

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    INSTALLATION:

To install the game you need a vanilla version of Rome Total War upgraded to versions 1.3 and 1.5. Unzip the file with Win RAR and move the folder RTH into your Rome Total War folder besides the original Data folder. Do the same with the “Rome Total History mod” launcher and eventually open properties to correct the destination path. Use the launcher to start the game.

    Instructions for NON Steam users:
    1. Download RTH (latest version)
    2. Extract the files using winrar and move the folder RTH into your Rome Total War directory
    3. Create a shortcut of your RTW.exe and move it to your desktop
    4. Rename the shortcut to "Rome Total History"
    5. Right click the shortcut and go to properties. In the target line after all quotations, add -show_err -mod:RTH

    Instructions for Steam users:
    1. Download RTH (latest version)
    2. Extract the files using winrar to "programfiles(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/RomeTotalWarGold
    3. Go into your steam library and right click Rome Total War, then go to properties and click on "Set Launch Options"
    4. Put -show_err -mod:RTH
    5. Optional: Create a desktop shortcut

    Installation of additional screens:
    1. Download Add_loading_screens from download site
    2. Unzip the file and copy the loading screens directly into the folder RTH/data/loading_screen

    Enjoy and spread the word!

Since some users still report problems installing the mod, I want to address one of the most frequent errors.

The following screenshot shows the installation of a user who was unable to start the game, although he thought that he has followed all the steps correctly:

As it happens I had installed the game on my computer in the folder "C:\Programme\Activision\Rome - Total War", while Centurion1981 installed it in a different folder, without correcting the target and the pathfile in the launcher.

    User capablecenturion has the solution:

Quote Originally Posted by capablecenturion View Post

"C:\Programme\Activision\Rome - Total War" is the pathfile.

However, looking at the top of your folder ''link'', your RTW is in:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War"

So all you need to do is correct the start in box AND the target box appropriately by placing

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War"

    instead of:

    "C:\Programme\Activision\Rome - Total War"

It should work then. After that, put the same parameters (-show_err -mod:RTH) as normal.
Don't forget that you need to correct both lines, in "Target" and in "Start in". If you want to play in Alexander or Barbarian Invasions, you need to correct the lines in the respective launcher.

That should work, but if you have other issues with your installation, please post a description in this thread!

Are you playing under BI? Then you must start it under Regional Campaigns.
Is your RTW upgraded to version 1.5?
Otherwise I don't know what might be wrong. Try to describe more precisely where you installed it.

Thanks very much for your mod which I downloaded a couple of hours ago. I am using Steam and I would like to ask you if you could be more specific concerning the instruction number 3 & 4 for Steam. Thank you very much in advance.

Unfortuantely I'm not using steam and therefore I can't be more precise on this. If somebody has successfully installed the game with steam, please help!

I have to premise that I don't use Steam, so I maybe completely mistaken. but I'll try.

I guess in your folder Romegold you have a folder called data and a launcher called RomeTW, plus other stuff?
Then this is the folder where you should copy the folder RTH and the specific launchers Rome Total History mod and the others for Alexander if you use that.
When you have done so, right click on the launcher Rome Total History mod and chose Properties. Then you will see the directory line in Target and Start In
    I guess the first reads: "C: \Programme\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -show_err -mod:RTH -enable_editor and the second "C: \Programme\Activision\Rome - Total War"

In your case you should substitute it with
    "C:/F(86)/steam/steamapps/common/romegold\RomeTW.exe" -show_err -mod:RTH -enable_editor
    and the second with "C:/F(86)/steam/steamapps/common/romegold"
It is possible that these lines are not perfectly matching, because your game is actually in another folder, but now the principle should be clear and you should be able to correct it accordingly. Good luck and let me know if it worked.

Move everything you got currently in the RTH_2.0 folder directly into your Rome Total War Gold folder, including the launchers.
Then right click the launcher Rome Total History mod, go to Properties and correct the paths, as I explained above.
Double click the launcher and there you go. Good luck!

    Default problem installing

The txt. file says just copy and play.

So I tried modifying the shortcut. That didn't work.
I tried copy & pasting the files into Activision folder. That just ruined the game.

    What am I doing wrong?!

Thank you so much but I think I need a re-install.

You know, I've experienced something weird last night: I could see the loading screens and they were glorious, but then, it says *missing file.
Like the entirety of the game was missing even palm trees.
So I shouldn't copy & paste over the original files, because it just destroys the game.

That's sure, and it wasn't in the instructions.

Rome Total History is "mod foldered" which means that all its files are in a specific folder (RTH) and the vanilla version remains untouched. This allows to continue playing both versions.
You can even install 20 other mods along with it, as long as they are mod-foldered too. Most mods for RTW are, but not Roma Surrectum.

This mod is like a living breathing history book.
    Thank you a million times!

EDIT: It crashed to desktop. But I'm not worried, it still looks amazing.

Where is your launcher? I can't see it. Check the correspondence of your command lines with the directory. Have you got the mod in RTH or in RTH_2.0?
