    Default [problem fixed] Custom Variantmesh to custom unit

    Hey I have a issue.

    I have made some custom unit, and with that a custom VariantMeshDefinition to the helmets of the unit.
    But then I see them ingame the helmets are missing?
    I did all the normal thing, made a VariantMeshDefinition for the helmets, and then made a new VariantMeshDefinition for the unit, which then used the custom helmet, And I can see it all normal in the editor. (the unit with custom helmet)

    Any idea? And yes Im really bad at explaining, feel free to demand more info.

    There are a couple of things that can be wrong there. It could be as simple as a typo or it could be as complicated as an error in the coding for the new model.

    Here are what likely went wrong

    • When adding the new helmet you gave it an incorrect pathway, for example you put it with the unit variantmeshes and not with the helmet variantmeshes
    • The new diffuse may be missing or is not linked to the model.
    • When adding it to the variantmesh you gave it a model tag rather than a mesh tag.
    • A typo, ANYWHERE.

    Are you using PFM by the way or the assembly kit? In general I find PFM easier to manage.

    Could you post a picture of the variantmesh of the unit that wears the helmet?

    The problem is there in the second picture. The helmet doesn't have a pathway in the unit variantmesh. look at the other items in the mesh and you will spot the difference.

    Okey its bugging me?

    I added this line
    <SLOT name="helmets" >
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="VariantMeshes\_VariantModels\man\helmets\Bac_Levy_armoured_pikemen_helmet.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    </SLOT>
    still the helmet is invisible, because I tried adding "normal" helmets to the unit, and it was 50% 50%.
    and here is a normal line.
    <SLOT name="helmets" >
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="variantmeshes\_variantmodels\man\helmets/bactrian_boeotian.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    </SLOT>

    to the Marines question!
    Its simple I use *Fantasy*
    But the truth is I like the big egy. ship and I wanted to add some nice crewmen to it. ;D

    I don't know what it is but your pathway for the helmet variantmeshes just looks wrong. Here is what it looks like in one of my mods

    Also I think things are case sensitive so you should fix that too.

    Hmm you are right! mine is completely messed up.
    But I think I have it all fixed up now...... YEP!

    <SLOT name="helmets" >
    <VARIANT_MESH_REFERENCE definition="variantMeshes\VariantModels\man\helmets\Bac_Levy_armoured_pikemen_helmet.VariantMeshDefinition" />
    </SLOT>

    Didn't knew it was Case sensitive :3 And my path way is still messed up, but no time to fix that.

    Uhh and Thanks for the help!

    It shouldn't take long to fix it. Just add a mesh from models_rome2 to create the pathway and then add your own files. Let me know if you get it working!
