Default A Carian Envoy to Phrygia

Three ships from Halicarnassus sail just outside of Tarsus' harbor, with one landing a messenger who bears a request from a Hecatomid emissary to meet with the King of Tarsus about the fall of the Macedonian Empire and the future of Cilicia and Caria. Idrieus remains on the lead ship with his sister Corinna to await the reply from the King or one of his court officials accepting or declining the meeting.

    Rolling for this as well:

Does the King of Tarsus meet with the Carians?
    Range: 10/20
Modifiers: +1 for having been accepted by the Carian people
    New Range: 11/20 (1 - 11, Accept; 12 - 20; Not Accepted)
Result: 7, the curious Cilician king orders his doors opened to the Carian messenger & company.

The messenger sends word back for Idrieus and Corinna to join the small entourage the messenger brought to the gates and make their way to the Cilician King's throne room. All the envoys first bow before Idrieus speaks. "Your majesty, I am Idrieus Hecatomnid of Halicarnassus, Prince of Caria. I come bearing an offer from my mother to propose my sister Corinna marry a son of yours if you are willing to tie our realms together so we may stand united against the barbarian hordes marching from the north who may come into Anatolia if they are driven eastward by the Macedonians, the Greeks who have formed a new League, and the Diadochi of Alexander the Great's now fallen Empire. Alone our states may end up being forced to kneel to one of these powers if not ravaged and destroyed instead, the locals forced to adopt their conqueror's culture. But together we may be able to fend off these threats from forcing their way of life upon our peoples." He then stops to let the King see Corinna and inspect if she would be a worthy match for any of his sons(if he has any), and ponder the offer of at most swearing fealty to Caria as a Satrap similar to how the Cilicians were under the Persian Empire and at least an alliance.

Does the King of Tarsus believe it is in his interests to join with Caria?
    Range: 10/20
Modifiers: +1 for Caria being slightly stronger, +1 for marriage offer, +1 mentioning local threats, -2 for requesting vassalage, -1 for female ruler
    New Range: 10/20 (1 - 10, Accept; 11 - 20; Not Accepted)
Result: 7, the Cilician King agrees to join forces with the Carians.

"Your words ring true," The old man says after a long pause, before rising from his throne and offering a kindly smile to Corinna. "As true as rumors of your sister's beauty, it seems. Very well, in the interests of defending my people I shall add my realm to Caria and see to it that my eldest son - " He motions for a tall, gruff-looking man who appears about half his age to step forward, "Weds Corinna, at any time Queen Artemisia deems suitable, to bind our families closer to each other. Gods willing, this friendship between the Carian and Cilician peoples shall stand the test of time."

"I believe the wedding could be held in several months' time at Kaunos, a city near the borders of Caria and Cilicia to represent the union of the two realms?" Idrieus smiles at the King and his son.

ooc : Going to reuse this thread instead of opening a new one.

A party of Carian riders led by Prince Idrieus and Princess Asmina, the youngest daughter of the Queen of Caria approach Gordium flying the Carian banner and request entry to meet with the King(or Queen) of Phrygia.
    ---
If allowed entry, Idrieus bows to the monarch of Phrygia before stating the offer of a marriage between Asmina and one of the monarch's sons, joining Phyrgia and Caria as one state to stand against threats from the Diadochi, other Anatolian states who may just conquer their land and enforce their culture on the Phyrgians isntead of respecting it like the Carian monarchy would, and other threats that may arise in the future.
